Wallace has basically ceased operations as an offensive player this season, shooting the ball only 5 times per-36 minutes (for his career he has averaged 11 shots per 36), hitting only 34% of his free throws, and turning the ball over at a higher rate than anyone else in the NBA (31.4% of his possessions result in turnovers). His 8.3 PER is the 3rd worst in basketball (minimum 700 minutes played), and while he's still adequate defensively, his numbers have dropped off quite a bit on that side of the ball (he's allowing 0.90 points per play via Synergy Sports, while league average is 0.86).

If I don't laugh, I'll cry.

Where does Wallace rank higher, on the list for most overpaid players, or the list of worst rotation players?

He's near the top on both.

He was fine during the preseason, and the first few games. After the first good winning streak he's gone down hill. Some to do with coming off the bench, some to do with he probably has no desire to play here.

Was he worth his contract in the beginning of the season, no. But at least he played a bit better before hand.

Imagine the minutes per game that he would be getting if he was on a good team and he was making $2m per year.

He's not good, but he's probably underrated in relative value compared to players who are adequate on offense and worthless on defense.

What frustrates me greatly is how, while he's supposed to be a top notch defender, he got caught dosing against 3 point shooters at least twice in the past 3 or 4 games (once against Barnes, once against Dudley).

I wonder, what would the defensive equivalent of Wallace's offense be?

A guy who walks off the court and lets the offense play 5-on-4?   A player who shoots on his own basket?

no news here folks. many cb posters before the start of the season predicted wallace would absolutely stink on offense. this is not a sudden turn of events for wallace since he has been a poor offensive player for the last few seasons.

but again, it doesnt matter that much since this team is going no where for the next 2 years. when wallace departs, let the party and $10,000,000 in savings begin. ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

A broken-down Steve Nash?  David Lee?

One thing about players with a reputation for bad defense is that it gets obscured a bit because egotistical opponents start trying to go for inefficient isolations against them.  I recall reading that someone watched all of Steve Novak's defensive plays and determined that he had good numbers at MySynergySports because guys like Lebron James would iso him and end up shooting a long two.

James Harden or Kobe Bryant the last two years. Fake hustle combined with bad fouls and awful close outs.

Nash at least tries to make defensive plays, those two just don't pay attention.

Probably not shoot on his own basket, but with some of those turnovers you'd need to throw something in like tripping or colliding with his teammates.
