  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I wonder how many stars send Rondo text messages and call him regarding 'teaming up' and creating a super team.

I also wonder how active Rondo would be at recruiting players from other teams?
Would he contact Durant or Bosh and say 'come on man let's do something big here in the greatest franchise in basketball'.

If the rumors of Love desperately wanting to become a Laker are true, we are going to need Rondo to get to work.

Ainge has set us up very well for when the time comes and I don't think there's any path to choose locked in yet. I think Ainge is prepared for Rondo leaving and going with the magic formula.

Cap space+ Assets+ picks+ expirings = good things happen.

Goldstar is 100% right though, there's every chance he's being recruited by other stars and there's every chance he'll want to chase the bright lights. He wants to win and if we can't get anyone to help him do that it's understandable if he wants to leave and compete, whilst also taking advantage of his marketability in the bigger cities.

If you think that just because he hasn't said anything about leaving or he says 'I love this town' means anything at this stage you're kidding yourself.

I also noticed in one of those quotes he said 'Ainge has been straight with me about everything so why would I leave?'.

I wonder if that's a precursor to 'don't screw me buddy, don't give me a reason to leave!'
I guess if he does leave it probably won't be Miami or LA.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

An Amex short? That's why he's leaving?

And Rondo continues to insist that all changes considered, he wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
“I love it here, the fans are great here, (president of basketball operations) Danny (Ainge) has been straight with me, so why would I want to leave?” he said. “Why would I want out? This is a brand new start for us as a team.”

Quote
"I don't really judge what everybody else did," Rondo said. "I've been in this situation for a long time. I don't really like change. I'm comfortable with the staff and the players. Coach and I are great, and we talk back and forth a lot."

The Celtics enter Friday night's game at Golden State with a 13-23 record and six straight losses. When asked why he would want to stay with a rebuilding Celtics franchise, Rondo answered: "Why would I not want to be? I talked to a lot of people, not necessarily about leaving, but my situation and how fortunate it is. It's a great situation for me. I'm taking another step into a leadership role."

Unless people are privy to his private conversations or inner thoughts, they can't offer anything besides speculation regarding Rondo leaving.

If you were in his shoes, would you stay? Hes accustomed to going deep in the playoffs, Is on a terrible team, Loves the glam of NY and LA, Nearing 30 yrs of age, will be one of the older players on the team.  I'm sure LBJ and Dwight fed the media similar quotes to the one you posted above.

What makes you think he loves the glam of NY and LA?  Is it his "metro" outfits?

Edit:

Sorry, I hadn't read your most recent post.  I see that it is in fact the outfits that make you think he wants to go to LA or NY.

That's awesome.  You get a gold star!!

it's mostly this actually, Boston never really had a chance...

I'm sure DA is wrestling with Rondo and Celtic possible outcomes.

I think you have to play this one by ear.

Proactive may not be the bet idea to jump o conclusions .....us fans were unaware of the Stevens hire

So there maybe plan he is not sharing......But just reacting to the market  ......doing a deal when the time s right.

To early o predict how Rondo will or will not effect the direction of the club.

It ink Rondo for now is part of the plan.......but DA like flexibility to react to the best situation or trade should it arise.

Rondo doesn't worry me

Wallace has to go to free up room to sign a elite........Wallace is the pain that won't go away

publicly

Yes, because stars talking publicly about leaving their teams is almost unheard of, right?

Draft picks somewhat, player assets (other then Rondo) not so much... the pick from LAC is going to be trash, Brooklyn is starting to turn things around, and Rondo's going to make the Celts pick trash for this year. Rondo hasn't been on a team this bad in a long time... Should be interesting to see how he adjusts.

We have plenty of assets, take a look at the roster. And we've had plenty of posts over the years about how we had to trade Rondo because of how he'd react poorly to being in trade rumors. I don't see this as anything different.

So you're under the impression that DH and LeBron didn't give clear indications they were strongly considering leaving at the end of their contracts? Same with Melo in Denver?

I think that in regards to LeBron Cleveland's front office had deluded itself.

Probably quite a few. An aside, but I'd guess that the bulk of the posters (who have been on celticsblog for a long time) who are saying we need to trade Rondo because the other stars are trying to convince him to join their teams were telling us a year or two ago that we needed to trade Rondo in order to attract free agents because he was hated throughout the league and people didn't want to be on his team.

This video is your reason for him leaving?  LOL!!!!

Going with that absurd logic, KG should be playing in China now as well and Paul Pierce should've been a Laker long time ago

I don't see much other than maybe Sullinger. Crawford and AB are nice role players. Celtics are going to land an All star with those guys and a 1st?

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

If you go back to the first page, you will see the reasons I give for him potentially leaving.
