what do ppl think of bayless so far?

i like his quick decision making ability, good shooter once open and easily the best ball handler on the team. plays good defense also

the bad is his mediocre wingspan. its not easy for him to finish on the drive or shoot when even slightly challenged. there is promise of jcraw and bayless 2nd unit once rondo comesback

If you didn't like Crawford, you're not going to like Bayless. His presence is still hugely irrelevant, though -- he's a salary dump and a rental.

10 pts and 5 assist is as good as you get from a backup pg production in the nba. if he keeps it up he should remain with the team for the next several years. i like him better than jcraw

Seems to shoot the midrange off of picks freely; more NBA-polish than J-Craw, not as lethal of a scorer, better and more willing passer.

Bayless is an upgrade over Crawford.

Setting up some options on who to re-sign this offseason, but I'd take Bayless over Crawford in a playoff game today.

as do i
trade crawford, resign bayless
he seems to have a nice handle, doesn't have lee's defense
my guess is ainge is moving crawford in another deal and looking to resign bradley

I think neither JCraw nor Bayless are worth resigning. I would run with Pressey for another year before throwing multiple millions at either of these guys.

Pressey is a good passer and can run the show well. I think the amount we'd be gaining from either of them once Rondo comes back is not worth the cap hit. And yes, I am aware we'd only be saving about 2 mil

Agreed. Bayless is the kind of score-first backup ballhandler Danny Ainge loves--he fits the Delonte West, Nate Robinson, Barbosa, and Jordan Crawford spot on his teambuilding rosters.

My guess is that he's insurance in case Crawford parlays his year into a solid contract somewhere else.

pressey can't hit the outside shot, that will be what kills his nba career (if he doesn't work on it)
if you are 5' nothing you HAVE to have 3pt range

Wow.  Pretty much agree with most here - TP's all around!

Having Bayless, Crawford, and Bradley all become FA's right after the draft (SG available?) with no team likely running to any of them with serious money means Danny can feel them all out.

I'm guessing Bayless will want security, Crawford will want money, and Bradley will want both.

We could possibly bring back only 2 of the 3, expecting them each to make more than minimum.

Pressey likely stays as cheap 3rd string PG.

My guess is Bayless takes a longer term, team-friendly deal with trade kickers, etc., which helps allow the extra bit to resign Bradley.

I think Crawford will make himself the odd man out.  Will it happen before the deadline, or in the offseason?

Looks like a solid backup PG to me.  Handles the ball much better than Lee.  Definitely a candidate to take the job behind Rondo next year...probably give him 10-12 minutes behind Rondo.

I guess it depends what kind of impression Bayless makes the rest of the season, but I see him as more of a veteran's minimum guy at this stage of his career - which is great because he won't eat up the cap if we do decided to re-sign him.

I can see Crawford being traded, but only because we can actually get something for him and he is a little redundant with Bayless (although definitely a bit better).

Pretty cheap option that can fill the void as backup PG/G .  He's got a real good chance to stick for a long period of time.

The question is just how cheap an option he will be after this year. He will be an unrestricted free agent after this season and he makes $3,135,000 this year.

The market will decide for Ainge I think. Bayliss is only valuable if he is cheap. Another team may bid high on him, if so, ainge should let him go to greener pastures.

Buy him out.  No point in him helping us win games we don't need to win when he has no future on this team long-term.
