The biggest problem for Tanker Rooting is our end of schedule. We play nobody over 500 for weeks at end of year. We will need to be gutted to the core to lose some of those games.

From Mar 21st to end of season, only one game vs Atlanta and by than, they might be under 500 due to No Horford.

Those should be cringe worthy games if we are rooting for top 5 draft pick. We could easily sneak into  8th seed if we are not careful  :P

Mar 21- Brooklyn
Mar 26- Toronto
Mar 28- Toronto again
Mar 30- Chicago
Apr 2- Washington
Apr 4- Philadelphia
Apr 5-Detroit
Apr 9- Atlanta
Apr 11 - Charlotte
Apr 12 Cleveland
Apr 14 Philadelphia
Apr 16 Washington

The tank has 3 potential phases.

1. Ainge trades away pierce, Garnett, rivers and hires a new coach and enters the season with no center, and only Bradley, Crawford and Pressey at the point for half a season. Done.

2. Trade away players mid-season that hurt the short term and help the long term. So far, so long Courtney lee, the team's best 3 point shooter.

3. That final 12 game schedule is the biggest threat to the tank plan. That is the only time i wonder if the game to game tank plan actually happens – the stuff that looks like throwing of games, sort of. Players might sit with injuries. The young guys will get even more minutes over the vets. This is when we really see how much ainge wants a high lottery pick.

We will also see which of those other bad east teams are getting it together for the playoffs vs rolling out the tank as well. Philly might be the only hardcore tanker of the bunch right now.

8 out of the 12 are games against teams that would be in the playoffs now.

The last few weeks of the regular season are going to be brutal.

Anybody remember that Twolves game where Mark Madsen was bombing three point bricks?  It was the last night of the season, and it cost the Celtics a spot in the draft.

Not only that, as of now all of those teams have designs on the playoff, aside from Philly (and maybe Chicago?)

That game went to OT somehow still.

Just craziness.

That's actually when the proper definition of tanking actually comes into play.  Guarantee rondo has some kind of mild injury "tweak" that makes him shut it down for the rest of the season (presuming he is still with boston at that point )

It'll be fun to watch this board descend into madness if the Celtics put together a win streak towards the end of the season and threaten to push their way into the playoffs.  I think it was the Mavericks who almost did that last season.

Dream scenario.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Another interesting scenario. What if we'd had the pick ahead of ours? Do we take shot at Roy? If so, we don't have Theo or as high of a draft pick, do we still get KG?

Does anybody else realize we could have the fourth worst record (pct) at the end of today (Friday 1/10)?

Pistons vs. 76ers (W)
Cavaliers (W) vs. Jazz
Magic vs. Kings (W)
Celtics (L) vs. Warriors

1. Milwaukee
2. Orlando
3. Utah (12-26)
4. Boston (13-24)
5. Sacramento (12-22)
6. Cleveland (13-23)
7. Philadelphia (13-23)

Of course with the Eastern conference being so bad, every day has a couple matchups between tanking teams. Unless they change the rules of basketball, somebody has to win!

That's amazing...It's a weird feeling wanting other teams to win certain matchups.

I don't think they win any of the next four games - after that they have the Lakers and Magic but after those two games they go on another run....

Then I think they lose 5 in a row again - Heat, Wizards, OKC, Nets and Knicks...
