I don't mind so much, but its not much as a steal ppl think, jj reddick a similar player fetched harris and then bledsoe, similar offensive numbers

http://www.boxscoregeeks.com/players/246-j-j-redick

http://www.boxscoregeeks.com/players/104-courtney-lee

and lee way more athletic and a better defender.

I in favour of the trade anyway as we had no use for lee, makes us worse which is what is needed

I don't know about that.  Redick has established himself as at least an average starter.  Lee was an end-of-bench player last year, and while he's playing better this year there's no guarantee that his per-minute numbers would stay the same if he had a larger role.  Some players are just better-suited to short minutes.

I guess this makes his Boston career cost two 2nd-rounders total. We used the 2nd rounder we got from OKC from the Jeff Green thing to get Lee in the first place, and now apparently have traded another one to get rid of him.

Funny thing about the OKC second rounder that I just realized, OKC ended up getting it back in the Harden trade. The More You Know™.

Actually, Lee cost us four 2nd rounders. Celtics sent two 2013 2nd round picks (39th and 45th picks, Minnesota's and our own 2nd rounder) to Portland for taking Pavlovic (he was signed and traded to Portland as a part of a three team deal).

Houston got 2013 2nd round pick from Charlotte (32nd pick) and now Grizzlies will get 2016 2nd round pick from C's.

Four 2nd rounder sounds like a lot but I still think both trades were good. Unfortunately, Lee didn't quite work out but it's hard to expect any of those four picks to produce a player that's going to have a better career than Lee.

Also, I am hoping Danny could flip Bayless before the deadline to a contender. F.e. Golden State has a 4M $ TPE from Biedrins trade and could use a guy like Bayless off the bench. Too bad they don't have a 2nd rounder to spare :)

Was just looking at Golden State earlier today (although as a potential Crawford buyer). Dubs have Toney Douglas as their sole backup.

Didn't realize they had a TE to use, but no 2nd rounder to make a deal happen. I suppose Festus Ezeli would be too much to hope for.

I have seen it reported both ways, that the second rounder is coming or going from Boston.  My guess is Boston is actually GETTING a second rounder.

But let's not get too excited.  It is almost certainly one of those heavily protected ones that will never actually change hands.

This would just be a necessity to make the deal work with Memphis using a TPE to absorb Lee.  It is a quirk of the CBA, that if you are using a TPE, you still have send out something in return for the player...and Bayless wouldn't count, because he is essentially in a separate trade from Memphis' end.

In which case, I would expect to see that picked moved out when the Celtics make a trade with the Pierce TE.

Just give them one of those Sacramento 2nds we have. We traded one to the Knicks but we still have a couple more we can move.

I hate to say it but keep dreaming if you think Bayless is gonna land us Ezeli.

UGH. That Fab Melo pick wasn't terrible but it sure would be nice to have an extra prospect or two on this team right now.

I'd give them Bayless, Faverani and first rounders for Barnes though.

By the looks of things, and the way Draymond Green is playing, Harrison Barnes, not David Lee, is the odd man out of that Dubs team.

I'd be happy to give those guys up, and maybe two first rounders. It solves their backup PG issues, another big body and a pick. Don't know if salaries work but you get the idea.

Actually, if you read my post carefully, you'll see I was a) thinking about Crawford and b) acknowledging that Ezeli would be a pipe dream.

At the time you could easy defend the pick. KG didn't want to play the 5 and they wanted to run it back and felt Melo was the best center left. Not all of these picks will work out. I don't get why people are going nuts over the 2nd rounders. The Celtics are going to have two first rounders until 2019 (except 2017 which is a pick swap) and there are only so many roster spots you can have. I don't mind this. Even if it's for a day the 2007 tank commander returns.
