Cavaliers center Andrew Bynum has been suspended for conduct detrimental to the team, Cavaliers General Manager Chris Grant announced today. Bynum did not travel with the team to Boston last night for the team’s game this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. vs. the Celtics and has been excused from all team activities indefinitely. His status will be updated as appropriate.

Well that's one less big to deal with today.

My guess is that he's going to get cut. Will he be traded before then, to allow a new team to waive his non-guaranteed contract?

Woj posted this on twitter:

It's very possible Bynum's played his final game for Cavs, sources tell Yahoo. In trade, a team can waive Bynum and save $6m of $12m salary.

Does anyone have any idea as what happened specifically?   Too bad. Bynumwas a very talented center before his knees gave out.

I had hoped he would help the cavs win some games this season.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

(I'm posting this on an assumption that "conduct detrimental to the team" is an attitude and maturity issue. I could be wrong)

This dude never learned.

Okay, so he has degenerative knees and an attitude problem. No NBA team would commit a ton of money on him from now on.

Way to save your career Andrew Bynum.  ::)

Woj reported that a source says he just doesn't want to play basketball anymore and never really liked it anyways. I do wonder the specifics of what made them suspend him.

He signed a contract that guaranteed him $6 million if cut before Jan 7 2014. He never wanted to play this season. He fooled the Cavs into giving him this contract and is now doing everything he can to get cut before Jan 7, so he can take his $6 million and add it to the pile of cash he has already earned in his career and retire for life.

What a scumbag!!!

I don't disagree with you in your overall premise, but if he was really a total total scumbag, wouldn't he have waited until Jan. 8th before making a huge scene and trying to get cut? That way he would have made 12 mill rather than just the 6 mill.

maybe depends on what teams offer for the salary dump.

Cleveland will be demanding a first round pick

Lol! No way they ask for a first round pick for a guy with degenerative knees and an attitude problem who likely will be out of the league soon

Bill Simmons: 3 - From what I hear, Bynum wants to end up with Heat or Clips. But he'd have to be released + Cavs want to trade him (see @Brian Windhorst). Twitter @BillSimmons

Bill Simmons: 4 - Also hearing he'd consider Boston - Celts have expirings/assets to get him (if they wanted him). His ideal teams are Miami/Clips though. Twitter @BillSimmons

Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

Yup - he is saying that he wants to go to the Clippers or Miami.  Miami is the perfect fit for him...

the price to dump 6+ million in salary is typically around a low first round pick.
