Bynum and Pierce had... zero points total between them last night.

At least Pierce's 0 points helped beat the Hawks.  Good job Paul.

I watched most of the game and he missed a lot of shots he normally makes. At his age it's probably just a natural regression, as his FG% has gone down the past three seasons. He does still get to the line at just a slightly lower rate than last season, which is encouraging.

The foul was definitely flagrant, but I think it should have been a flagrant 1, not 2.

It's also comfort level, I'm sure.  He's gone from a team where basically the whole offense was built around him and KG being options 1 and 2 offensively and Rondo getting him the ball to a Nets team where he should really be option 4 at best with a shoot-first PG like DWill.  Pierce and KG would have fallen off if they'd stayed in Boston, but I'd bet money they'd be putting up better numbers than they are in Brooklyn.

He only played 15 minutes and was ejected.

He had 27 & 24 pts in his previous two games.

I cut bait with Pierce and KG long ago (for Sullinger and Thomas). I have since picked up Pierce again, but this performance leaves me wondering if I need to go for it again...yikes, cutting Pierce twice in a season - that's just not right.

Creepy part is that he and Danny Granger had basically identical stat lines.

15 minutes off bench.  0-7 shooting. 0 points. 2 rebounds. 1 block

Crazy

For as much as I love him, I'm glad I don't have to watch him regularly anymore to be honest...sadly washed up

Um. Deron Williams is not a shoot-first PG.

Um. Deron Williams is not a shoot-first PG.

Deron Williams career FGA per 36 minutes = 13.6.  Season high FGA per 36 minutes = 17.5

John Stockton career FGA per 36 minutes = 10.3.  Season High FGA per 36 minutes = 11.3.

Paul Pierce career FGA per 36 minutes = 15.7.  Career high FGA per 36 minutes 17.5.

"Shoot first" might be a bit unfair, but DWill is clearly one of the generation of PGs who look for their own offense as much as they look to facilitate others.  Going from a pass-first PG lke Rondo in an offense centered around him to an offensive-minded PG like DWill and a system where he should be no better than option #4 is obviously part of Pierce's struggles this year.

Yes, going from a PG who can't shoot to a PG who can certainly changes things :P

I don't think Pierce's problem this year is his scoring average -- the biggest issue is that he's been fairly inefficient (.400 FG% so far) and inconsistent.

If he only played 15min than I don't get the story at all.

Remember 08 in Cavs series Ray Allen played like 40 min and scored zero.  And that was in his prime.  And that was barely a story then,  because who cares
