Rajon Rondo: Return In January Isn't Realistic

If it wasn't for the Knicks and Nets, we'd be sitting pretty with a top 8 pick right now.  As-is, we're still right on the verge of the lotto.  Hopefully we can unload some vets for future considerations and tank this up good and proper.

As I see it right now Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Orlando, Utah and Sacramento are all much worse then the Celtics could dream of being. That's right now anyway. As it stands Boston won't get a top pick in this highly overrated draft.

I also have my doubts that the Knicks or Nets will "turn it on" in time.

I told yall Rondo was not coming back this season. Makes absolutely no sense for him to come back this season. Team is not winning anything and why not get the benefit of a whole season of rehab.

Not one of us on this site has any idea of how long Rondo will be out. He could take the season off. Or he could be trying to get into playing condition so he's not putting more stress on this uninjured leg and hurting it. And if that's so he could be back in a month or two.

  In any case, if he comes back at all this year he'll probably be ahead of the pace of weak-willed Derrick Rose.

Without the proper club assembled.....no reason to bring Rondo back before he is ready.      His return risks his injury and doesn't help with getting the best draft possible

There appears to be ZERO chances of the Celtics getting a FA elite man ....that would be worth Rondo returning ASAP .......

Celtics best hope is to dip into the draft and get a lotto pick.

With a lotto pick and Rondo s return...... Then there is a better chance of signing a elite center

Danny really needs to trade off more non future talent like Lee and Bass to assist getting a better draft pick.

Rondo has one thing on his mind and that is his next contract.  He won't come back until he 110% sure he is ready.  I don't blame him for that, he only has a small window to cash in and he wants to maximize his value.  I always thought we would see him around late January but I bet we don't see him until late February early March.  That would be a calendar year removed from his surgery.  Rondo is looking out for himself, he knows the C's arent going anywhere this year.  IMO he is making the right call.

The difference is that the Bulls weren't tanking, we are.  It wouldn't make any sense for Rondo to make a comeback in a throwaway season (with brand new coach and bunch of parts). 

The Bulls certainly had the chance to knock off Miami with the way Noah, Deng, and Nate were playing.  With Rose coming back when he was declared, it would make huge difference but instead he rode the bench as a coward that he truely was and watched his team fought and struggle

Agreed on "Rondo contract."

Rondo has $16,000,000 reasons not to play. It would be stupid to risk $16M to play in 30 meaningless games.

Ainge has a huge rebuilding block completely at risk for absolutely no reason if Rondo comes back early.

So let's see now....for Rondo it would be career risking financial suicide.

For Ainge it would cost him his one and only top level asset when he needs it most in the middle of a rebuild....just plain nuts.

If you watched the Pacers last night THAT is the kind of roster the Celtics need. Big and fast with balance on offense and defense....that game was a freaking scrimmage.

The Celtics need to build a championship roster...get it done.
