Jeff Green has done well. I am happy with how he has played.

Very happy with how he is shooting the ball. I think that jump-shot is very important for playing alongside Rondo long term. Scoring the ball better at the SF position than he has done in the past. More efficiently, I mean. And Jeff Green's defense continues to be well above average. So looking more and more like a long term fixture here. Very happy with that.

He's been more or less the same player as the one I've been watching since his rookie year.  His fluctuation in stats are only due to fluctuations in minutes and role.  He is what he always has been.  Not surprised at all.

The folks who thought he'd made some leap into super-stardom didn't know what they were talking about.  He's 27 years old.  He already reached his peak.

I expected 16-18 pts a game from him.  Very impressed with stevens team game so far which would cut into green's ppg.  I'd always like his rebounding numbers up.  Impressed with his efficiency.  Not sure if stevens is still getting into groove but I'd like to see the team pound the ball into good match ups be it green , sully, rondo etc.
so i think the answer is what i expected pretty much

I agree with this.  His shooting has been good, and that's a very important part of his game.  His defense hasn't been "lock-down", but it has been good.  Those are probably the two most important parts for Green to be an effective player.

His rebounding is still poor, and he's never going to be routinely aggressive.  He's never going to be a "star".  However, for a third-option type of player, he's been everything we can ask him for.

He is who he is. A fourth option who will sometimes play like as first option (perhaps once or twice a year. A player who does not like the limelight and prefers to play a supporting role where he can take plays off and be as docile as tortoise.

This is it guys, he is not going to get any better.

You know, I recently found a ton of articles that suggest an NBA player peaks at 23 years old.  I shared them with this forum and got blasted, because conventional thinking is that they peak at 27.  But it's fair to mention that most stars you know of (Kobe, LeBron, Duncan, KG, etc) were pretty much who they were statistically by age 23.  Yes, they still improve on individual things here and there... LeBron's always becoming more efficient.  But more or less the stats remain the same.  Our thinking seems to be wrong.  The "27" thing isn't accurate.  You'll more or less know what you got by the time a player is 23.  Even our own Rajon Rondo was basically at his peak at 23.  (13 points, 10 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals).  The folks who think Rondo is going to make a leap post-injury at 28 don't know what they are talking about.

Jeff Green is another wonderful example.  Green's stats as a 22 year old in OKC:  16.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal .446/.389/.788

Green's stats now:  16.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, .4 steals  .448/.385/.781 ... 3 less minutes per game explain the slightly less stats.  He's almost identical to the player he was as a 22 year old... he's arguably improved his 3 point shooting, I guess.  Well... he takes more of them.  I'm sure he's "smarter".  But he is what he has been for years.

Good news is that Sully is only 21.  He's got a couple years until he peaks.

TP. Thank you for saving me the time to write the exact same thing.

Those stating he was suddenly going to jump up to a 25PPG scorer were just high on green kool aid.

What I expected.

He's consistently inconsistent.

I'm not a guy who thought he would be a slam-dunk all star selection, but I did think that he was going to get up to an efficient 20 points per night, hopefully by getting to the line a little more, and that he was going to rebound a little bit more.

So he is definitely coming up short of my expectations, but he's doing a solid job for sure.

4.5 rebs a game?  Well it's definitely not what I expected when DA signed him to a huge contract, so I'd say worse.

He's an average player. He is what he is at this point. If Ainge can find another home for him, I wouldn't be the least bit disappointed to see him gone.

Agreed.

One thing I will add though, that has been a pleasant surprise: Green is getting to the line more this year.

Coupled with his continued above-average 3 point shooting, this makes him a fairly efficient offensive player, particularly if you buy into the Morey "free throws and 3s" view of offensive efficiency.

Beyond that, though - yeah, all the old flaws are still there. He's rebounding less and shooting a little better than earlier in his career, but those things are pretty typical.

About what I expected.  A little worse than I had hoped.

I don't know who is saying Rondo is going to make a huge leap when he returns?

Those of you who think he is going to start making a free fall into mediocrity at the age of 28 will most likely be proven wrong, though.
