So if Asik deal is done with Bass going with 1ST and Brooks. Who should the C's go after?

With Utah's record, upcoming FA coming, and Stevens connection, Ithink Heyward seems like the perfect sign an trade move at the deadline. I think starting 5 of Rondo/Heyward/Green/Sully/Asik really compliment each other really well.

Sign-and-trade moves happen in the off-season during free agency, not at the trade deadline.

Kevin Love. Top 10 player that HAS to have a great
7ft defender next to him. Ideal fit.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Which 1st? I'll assume it's the Clippers' pick.

I like LarBrd33's idea of trading for Pau Gasol. Trade anyone outside of Rondo, Green and Sully. Give the Lakers the Brooklyn pick, Humphries and Wallace (although I'd personally keep Crash for bench depth) or whoever it may take without involving our own 2014 pick and the names mentioned.

Pau and Asik with Sully coming off the bench, getting most of the minutes. That's a great rotation for the bigs.

Now you get a lineup of...

Rondo
Bradley
Green
Pau (who will be better utilized in Boston)
Asik

with Sullinger as your 6th man. That's a Playoff team and a one or two moves away from being a contender.

Of course you run the risk of losing Gasol in FA. But hey, at least he opens up $19 million if in case that happens.

I think we'd be a Kevin Love away from winning a championship with that team and roster.

I know this is not about KL but after an All Star year i still dont see him as a center piece in a championship over the next all star center

Hope a star becomes available on the market one way or another. If Rondo comes back healthy, with Sullinger's development and movement back to PF on top of adding Asik, I think we'd be one piece away from contending.

It's a major piece though and I don't know if there's anyone like that available.

Do they have to make another move?  I have been sitting here thinking about it and I am not sure they do.  If you don't count the games where Bradley played point guard they are 2 games over .500.  With those games they are 2 games under. They have a glaring weakness at center.  They desperately need a rim protector and a rebounder.  Asik fill this need. Then you add in Rondo and what does this team become?  They have gotten better as the season has worn on.  If they can play .500 ball with no center and without their best player how good will they be with them?

Rondo, Bradley, Green, Sully and Asik is a very good starting five.  They don't really have a go to guy to carry them all game but Green has been known to make a clutch shot at the end of games.  It matters who goes in the trade but their bench won't be that bad either.   If Green goes then they have to find a Small Forward. Preferably not named Melo.  I can't see Green going as that would be a side step.  Asik is a win now guy, the C's need Green to win now.

I don't know the answer to if they need another move or not but I would love to see how the tam looks with Asik and Rondo before they do anything.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.

Trade Wallace, Humphries, Lee Brooks, Olynyk, + 2 first rounders for Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin.

Trade Crawford+ Nets pick for Lance Stephenson or Quincy Pondexter.
Starting 5:

Rondo
Stephenson
Green
Melo
Asik

=
Serious contender.
Rotate 6th man between Sully and Green and let Sully come in and play traditional PF and let Green come off bench if we want Sully starting with Melo at the 3, depending on the match ups.

We could also keep Bass in this situation off the bench because Pierce's trade exception means we can take back 22 million on Melo's 19 million if we trade him for Wallace.
Hell we may even be able to re-sign Crawford.

Bench:
Sully/Green rotating starters
Bass
Faverani
Crawford
