If we combine bogus rumors... it would be kind of interesting if we traded Jeff Green for TurkPerk and then traded Rondo + Wallace for Granger, George Hill and a pick.

I can't see the Pacers messing with the team at this point, but it was a bogus rumor I heard earlier.

It would give the Celtics a lineup of..

PG - Hill/Crawford
SG - Bradley/Lee
SF - Granger until he breaks
PF - Sully/Bass
C - TurkPerk/Fav

Granger expires at the end of the year.

That's pretty much what we should be trying to avoid, a team with little to no high level talent that won't be bad enough for a top draft pick.

That ship has sailed guys especially with Courtney and Bass not helping their trade value recently. I think we're stuck with them, having Rondo around would help but that isn't anytime soon either.

Trade value doesn't swing from game to game - everyone pretty much knows what they're getting with Bass and Lee - an undersized PF that can shoot midrange and play reasonable perimeter defense and a 3 & D wing. 2 or 3 bad games isn't gonna swing Morey one way or another.

Given that Morey has been considering trading away Asik and Lin (those combined 30M next season might of might not have something to do with that, right?), and after last season trade petitions, I'd do this:

...

TP aporel.  Well thought out trade idea that seems plausible for each team.  I am loathe to give away 1st rounders, but LA's 2015 pick is easily the most expendable that we have, and even if Asik is not a fit for us, I can't imagine we could flip for another 1st rounder down the road.
I actually think when people start putting together 4-5 team trades with 10-15 moving parts that its just people with to much time on ESPN Trade Machine having fun.

Trades like that happen once or twice every 20 years or so and are about as unrealistic as trading Kris Humphries for Lebron James, one for one.

well, a 4-team trade is highly unlikely, but not impossible. Every trade proposal is the result of wasted time playing with the trade machine, so I'll give you that.

In fact, those trade ideas are only useful to share a picture of our perceived value on the players, and to have fun while at it, of course.

And no, I wouldn't trade Humphries for LeBron... if Riley was open to do that trade, you can bet it's because LeBron has a secret injury.

I've never heard of a 5 team trade, but unless my memory is going to pot, it seems like 4 team trades happen every couple of years or so.  The Dwight Howard trade was a four team trade.  The Clipps got Lamar Odom via a 4 team trade (pretty sure Mo Williams was involved.  Pretty sure Dallas was involved in one a few years back.  I know the trade that brought Derren Collison to Indiana a few years back had a bunch of teams involved.

Also, the proposed trade involved 11 players, which is large, but certainly not unprecedented by NBA standards.

In 2005 the C's sent Antoine Walker to the Heat in a five team trade.

If the Celtics are not giving up a 1st round pick, I have no problem with trading Green for Asik. Seems like fair value both ways.

Agreed.

I like Asik - brings far more to the table than the rotting, fetid corpse of Kendrick Perkins ever did.

But not enough to warrant Green and a pick.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

And in case you weren't sick of hearing about it. This was spoken today by Spears...

Quote
Marc J. Spears: Boston is very intrigued (about Omer Asik). Outside of Boston, I don't know if anybody is super excited about this kid. Yahoo! Sports
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

I agree with this. I think Jeff Green for Asik is a very fair trade for both teams.

At first I wasn't big on Asik as he's limited offensively.

BUT, the more I think about it, if you put an actual center on this team, then we could give a lot of teams a run for their money.

I would even expand it to Green and Brooks for Asik and Omri Casspi.

That way, we at least get another SF to replace Green and Brooks makes the money work.

I also think this would work really well for Houston as I think JG would be a perfect 6th man for them.

As for here in Boston, I just don't think Jeff Green is a starter nor do I think he should be a key part of a contending team.

The best part of this idea….Celts can say they landed Omir and Omri.

I'm OK with trading Green for Asik, too, but Houston, I don't think, is OK with it. Otherwise, it would've probably happened by now.

The Cs were gonna give up Green for Asik, but most people assumed we needed a third team to get Houston the first rounder that they wanted. Cleveland was one possible destination for Green, and for some reason, despite their need for an upgrade at the SF, they declined, and I don't think it was just about the 1st rounder. I don't think that they are enamored with Green.

For Houston, Green is too expensive as  a backup. Parsons is their guy and will get a big pay day.

I still think we need to get a third team involved to take Green. Perhaps the Grizz, as they have made it clear that they want to get more athletic on the wing with Prince declining.

Eh, I don't see them having any interest in Green - they have Terrence Jones and Chandler Parsons already as their starting forwards at a fraction of the cost of Jeff. Hes pretty redundant as he's not a clear upgrade to either.

It's good news.

Offer Wallace + the Clippers pick and tell Morey: "at that price, I'm cutting me own throat!"  ;D

Rumors in the press were the Rockets were hot after Thad Young. Is he really all that much different a player than Jeff Green.

Of course maybe the three way trade of Boston sending Philly Green, Philly sending Houston Young and Houston sending Boston Asik works for everyone.

And here's another rumor about Asik in a three-way with the Bulls and Hawks (although this was yesterday afternoon, pre-Horford injury).

http://spacecityscoop.com/2013/12/27/nba-trade-rumors-three-team-trade-involving-omer-asikjeremy-linluol-deng-explored/

Quote
According to FOX Sports, the Bulls have inquired about trading for Lin in exchange for Luol Deng, with the Hawks being a possible destination for Asik

Again, this was pre-Horford, but who knows, depending on what Chicago will accept back from the Hawks.

Obviously, I hope this doesn't happen as it will make the Hawks stronger.
