NESN is reporting that Jeff Green indeed could of been in an Asik deal..

Quote
The two-team trade to bring Asik to Boston didn’t work out, but a three-team deal reportedly was in the works before Cleveland backed out. According to Bob Finnan of The News Herald, the Celtics offered Jeff Green to the Cavs to facilitate the trade. It’s not clear what pieces would have gone to Houston in such an exchange, but the Cavs weren’t interested, anyway -u

And there's this tidbit from Marc Spears of Yahoo today...

Quote
Omer Asik could still be headed to Boston after all, according to the most recent report in the ongoing saga involving the Celtics and the disgruntled Rockets center.

Talks involving a package of Brandon Bass, Courtney Lee and a first-round draft pick broke down either last week or the week before, depending on the source, and Thursday came and went without Houston making a deal by its own deadline. But the Celtics and Rockets have not given up trying to come to an agreement, Yahoo! Sports reports.

Moral of the story: This rumor isn't going anywhere guys.
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

Unless we are getting something substantial [in addition to Asik] in return, I would be so bummed if we traded Green for Asik. He is a guy we either need to hold on to for the future or use as a major trade piece in another deal. IMO, Asik is not even close to worth it...

Jeff Green is a nice guy but he just doesnt have the drive and is not a winner. I would be for trading him.

If the Celtics are not giving up a 1st round pick, I have no problem with trading Green for Asik. Seems like fair value both ways.

This doesn't make sense.  Word was Houston wanted Green in the deal.  Why would he go to Cleveland?  If he was going to be included why not send him to Houston?

Given that Morey has been considering trading away Asik and Lin (those combined 30M next season might of might not have something to do with that, right?), and after last season trade petitions, I'd do this:

...

TP aporel.  Well thought out trade idea that seems plausible for each team.  I am loathe to give away 1st rounders, but LA's 2015 pick is easily the most expendable that we have, and even if Asik is not a fit for us, I can't imagine we could flip for another 1st rounder down the road.

If we combine bogus rumors... it would be kind of interesting if we traded Jeff Green for TurkPerk and then traded Rondo + Wallace for Granger, George Hill and a pick.

I can't see the Pacers messing with the team at this point, but it was a bogus rumor I heard earlier.

It would give the Celtics a lineup of..

PG - Hill/Crawford
SG - Bradley/Lee
SF - Granger until he breaks
PF - Sully/Bass
C - TurkPerk/Fav

Granger expires at the end of the year.

I actually think when people start putting together 4-5 team trades with 10-15 moving parts that its just people with to much time on ESPN Trade Machine having fun.

Trades like that happen once or twice every 20 years or so and are about as unrealistic as trading Kris Humphries for Lebron James, one for one.

God, the Indiana leg of this trade is AWFUL for us... Why would we ever do that?

Before the season I guessed that Indiana was the one destination that made the most sense for Rondo.  A fringe contender that could use a PG upgrade and might see Rondo as the "final piece" to put them over the top... much like Sheed was to Detroit.  I don't think there is much of a market for Rondo.  If you could dump Wallace's horrid contract by including it with Rondo, that's a major benefit.  Prior to the season I guessed we could do something like Rondo + Wallace (bad contract) + Lee (bad contract) for Granger (expiring contract), Hill (we could flip him to another team) and some "young mediocre players like Solomon hill and Lance Stephensen"...   Stephensen has since broke my trade idea by turning into a stud.  But Rondo + Wallace for Granger (expiring), George Hill and a late 1st seems like the kind of "pennies for a dollar" trade you can expect to see if Rondo is moved.

Doing the trade puts Boston in good tank position (presuming Granger is benched as an expiring contract) and sets them up to add a max contract in the summer.  You'd prob want more than just Hill and a pick for Rondo... but that's what the rumor suggested yesterday.

I've never heard of a 5 team trade, but unless my memory is going to pot, it seems like 4 team trades happen every couple of years or so.  The Dwight Howard trade was a four team trade.  The Clipps got Lamar Odom via a 4 team trade (pretty sure Mo Williams was involved.  Pretty sure Dallas was involved in one a few years back.  I know the trade that brought Derren Collison to Indiana a few years back had a bunch of teams involved.

Also, the proposed trade involved 11 players, which is large, but certainly not unprecedented by NBA standards.

There's just no way in hell Bird takes Wallace on, even if it's for Rondo. Look at the LT implications Indiana is facing in the coming years.

There is absolutely no way in Hades that Ainge trades Rondo for an expiring a mediocre pg and a late non valued first round pick. Noottt a chance.

Well, unlike the bass and lee rumors, at least this trade would be realistic.  Reasonably fair value all around
