If you can attach Crawford onto a Gerald Wallace or Courtney Lee and get out of their contracts for expiring's, you do it.

I absolutely agree.  Crawford isn't a long-term asset, and if he brings any value (whether it be a #1 or as a way to clear salary room) you do it.

I don't think we'd be able to package him with Wallace for expirings.  Maybe for a underperforming guy with another year on his deal, though.  Lee is more plausible, in my opinion.

Definitely.

I am happy with how Jordan Crawford has played this season but I don't have much confidence in him sustaining this and I am worried how he'll react (performance wise) when his role shrinks once Rondo returns.

So, for me, Jordan Crawford is not someone who is the long term picture (yet?). If he can be used to get back and asset or in lieu of an asset to dump a long term contract, great, go ahead and do it.

Would Chicago consider giving up Tony Snell and the non-guaranteed contract of Erik Murphy for Crawford?

I'd use him to get rid of Wallace's contract if the opportunity presented itself, but I'd make a face afterwards, because JCraw is the backup to Rondo we've spent the last five years looking for. Would be a real shame to see him go.

Unfortunately, I think GMs agree with this assessment of Crawford.

I'm not sure his value elsewhere will be more than his value for us right now. Of course, when Rondo returns, we will have a challenge keeping Crawford's contributions high.

If Crawford could get us out of Wallace's contract by himself, I'd pack his bags for him.

Yeah, I agree.  An instant offense playmaker who can play as either a backup or alongside Rondo is a huge asset to whatever our final "contender" rotation looks like.

We can move Crawford if the value is right, but sooner or later we're going to find ourselves looking for someone with a similar skillset.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. Rondo's been without a legit backup since Sam Cassell nearly 7 years ago, and we all know that neither Bradley nor Lee is suited for that role. I could see JCraw becoming disgruntled after Rondo returns, but maybe not—maybe he's matured enough to avoid that, and maybe he can still get enough minutes anyway; say Rondo plays 33 a game (maybe less when he first returns), that's 15 minutes for JCraw as backup PG, and maybe he can get another 5–8 minutes a game by splitting backup SG duties with CLee.

I agree with you guys.  I don't see any reason that Crawford can't thrive as a 6th or 7th man like the other Crawford.  He genuinely seems to have improved.  His shot selection has improved and his crazy plays have decreased. I don't mind moving him if it really helps Ainge with his vision, but I see a perfect backup in Crawford.

ehh i was thinking the same thing but if your asking for an expiring contract your kinda losing value if that players leaves

say we trade crawford and wallace for deng he would command alot of money and would test free agency. so we pretty much lose a player thats playing realy good for us

where we could trade wallace and humphries for amare and he has an option to leave next year or take less money plus we keep crawford

Lee really isn't underperforming. He is rather having a career year (though his minutes are a bit low for that).

I wouldn't.  We would be trading the backup point guard we've been looking for, well forever just to dump a bad contract, then what do we do for a backup point guard?  Go back to Bradley?  No thanks.  If it was up to me, Crawford stays.

Wallace has the worst contract in the NBA. If all you have to do is throw in a rotation guard to dump the $30mill owed, you do it.

Crawford is replaceable guys.
