I'm gonna keep my question really elementary and simply ask if Gerald Wallace is still an NBA caliber basketball player anymore? Is he average, good, great, elite?

Every game i watch him, i'm that much more confused. 2 points per game most nights, can his offense really be this poor? Is he trying his absolute hardest? I just don't understand how somebody can fall off this dramtically!

Not so much a scorer anymore or go,to guy ........but he is GREAT energy guy off the bench .

He is not a starter anymore .   But a spark plug  ...yes!  He is a player , the most expensive role player in the NBA.

Trade him for Asik , Wallace could help rockets win it all .....that's we're .....or to Spurs for a nice player.

I like the instant energy  WAllace, Pressey, Lee , and Bradley bring.........it just comes in waves , as coach rotates them in and this really wears heavy on plodding old clubs ......ie the Nets .

Wallace is still an NBA caliber basketball player, even though his stats tell you otherwise.

He doesn't look to score much and often passes up shots or drives to set up his teammates.  I think his mindset is simply to do the intangibles.  Move the ball. Play hard nosed defense.  Make hustle plays.  Bring energy off the bench.  Basically things that don't show up on a your basic stat sheet.

He's certainly not with his contract, but he knows his role and does an acceptable job of it.

NBA caliber?  Absolutely.

He's more of a back-end rotation player, though, rather than a starter or somebody that you consistently rely upon.  And, of course, he's massively overpaid.

Yeah, Wallace would be great on the Spurs.

I like Gerald.  I think he provides a lot of good things out there as a utility man.  I doubt that Danny finds a trade that makes sense involving Crash.  As has been pointed out--ad nauseaum--he is making too much money for too long a time period for anyone else to be likely to take him on in a trade, unless we send away way too much value for way too little return just to get rid of him.

Personally, I'm not that desperate to get rid of him that I'd consider shipping off some of our best assets just to clear ourselves of Wallace's contract.  I'd rather live with it, live with Gerald, and root for him to do good things on the court to help us win.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

He was a big-time disrupter defensively last night.  He disrupts us offensively....But he was like a poor-man's Garnett defensively last night.

I think G.Wallace is a below average but adequate starter. When ranking all 30 starting SFs, I think I would have G.Wallace somewhere in the 20-25 range. There seem to be quite a few dodgy starters at the moment. I wouldn't be too comfortable with G.Wallace as starter but I think you could make-do with him.

As a backup SF, I have G.Wallace somewhere around 10th.

So out of all starters + backups, I imagine that leaves him somewhere 30-35th out of 60 players. A fairly average SF. A strong (above average) backup SF to a below average but just about adequate starting SF.

I think of him as an 7th man. Belongs on a team but a decent energy guy off the bench.

This is along the lines of what I was thinking, nicely put.  Utility man is another good description.  Too useful at too many things to be on an end-of-rotation level regardless of how many shots he takes.  He doesn't have consistency on a game-to-game basis, but when he does play well he's a perfectly acceptable starter.  A good comparison would be TA in 08 coming back from injury.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

He would fit nicely with a contending team like Houston or San Antonio..he needs great players around him to make him better
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin
