umm... injury problems, clearly.  But it's not a "lack of backup SF"... it's the lack of superstar PG.  Deron has been hurt.  Brooklyn will turn it around.

I am actually having doubts that they will.  They may turn it around enough to win the atlantic or sneak into the playoffs,  everyone still has a chance at that.

But I don't see them turning it around to be a serious contender.  Too many miles on KG and PP, and DW and Lopez just aren't championship caliber players.

Deron Williams hasn't been a superstar in my eyes for quite a while.

"never" been a superstar on me

People throw around the "superstar" term loosely here.  Deron played at an all-star level last season after the all-star break... which technically mean he's been a "superstar" more recently than Rajon Rondo.

He lead a 50 win playoff team while averaging 23 points, 8 assists 3 rebounds 1 steal 48%/42%/87% over the second half of the season.  You can't expect Brooklyn to play at a high level without their superstar.

He had a nice stretch after the allstar break, but otherwise has pretty drastically underperformed his huge contract and is injured all the time.
