Didn't Rondo start last season with months of record-breaking assisting? Don't see Crawfish doing that.

Haha. The Celts sub .500 record wasn't due to Rondo's assist streak.

Another thing with Rondo is that he is , both mentally and physically, a very tough payer.  He reminds me a lot of Kobe in that he  has a strong will toooo party through pain, and a major passion for the game and for winning. Unlike Rose I don't see him just sitting around watching his Tam loose from the sidelines even after his doctors have cleared him to pay.

I think he's the type of player who will work tirelessly to make sure he comes back im to basketball shape, and I think hell pt in the extra work to ensure that when he comes back, he's ready to make a big contribution.

Yes I could see him maybe struggle with his jump shot and finishing around the basket initially, but I think hell still be dominant regardless.

I agree and disagree at the same time. I agree Rondo is a competitor like Kobe, playing through pain (ACL tear and Achilles tear). But I do not agree that Rose is not a competitor. Dude wants to win but has history of injuries.

That's based on the assumption that they'd have won as many games earlier in the season without him. The team had a lot of problems in the first part of last year. The defense was awful, especially when KG was out. Green was lousy for the first couple of months coming back from heart surgery and a year off. PP and Jet struggled with injuries. Bradley was out. With all of that going on, what would our record have been without Rondo?

Rose cuts harder than either of them. He puts more strain on his knees so is more affected by any knee problems. I can't fault him for not feeling ready to come back last season. Also, every surgery is unique.

I think he'll have some rust initially and there might be some struggle to get on the same page with some of his teammates at first but I don't expect too much of a dropoff from what we saw from Rondo pre-injury.

Like others have mentioned in the thread, I don't think the style of his game is terribly prone to his being hindered by the injury as opposed to someone like Rose.

The Crawford thing borders on the absurd.

Rondo will play good enough to have optimists thinking he will be in All-Star form by next season and poor enough that pessimists will want to trade him because they think his value will decline.

I think that's pretty accurate. Would like the wishful thinking but I believe your brains got the right idea.

8 PTS, 8 assists, 2 rebounds IMO in 23 minutes per game. Rondo will not be himself until a year from now, and the celtics won't push him. Just look at Rose and how bad he was until he injured his other knee for overcompensating

It will be interesting to see how closely teams guard him when he comes back and isn't at full speed. Also be interesting to see how long they keep his minutes down for.
