This post is almost prescient in it's comparison of the two players.  Both players were added to stacked rosters in the hopes of building a dynasty and both had season ending surgeries early in their Celtic's careers that derailed championship hopes- Jeff Green's was even life threatening,

Both struggled with recovery as well.  Though ruled 100% healthy after their seasons, off Jeff Green never became the night-in-night-out scorer many had projected him to be and Gordon Hayward still lacks the burst to get around even the league's oldest player - Jamal Crawford.

Like Jeff Green, Hayward will likely have a long NBA career as a valued veteran presence and role-player/spot-starter.

Necro to subtly insult Hayward?

Green was the same player before and after his surgery. Hayward was an All-Star prior to his injury. Green had plenty of seasons to improve, Hayward haven't even finished half of the season.

Jeff Green right now is better than his clone Jaylen Brown.

And Gordon Hayward right now is just the same player that Evan Turner was to us before he left.

Gordon Is a better playmaker than Jeff Green but offensively Jeff is doing more for the Wizards than what Gordon is doing for us... Honestly enough of the coming back from injury excuses... Kyrie is also coming back but he is almost the same as he was right now.... Gordon has been abysmal so far apart from that outlier 30point game he produced.

Setting aside contract, I'd rather have this hobbled version of Hayward than Evan Turner or Jeff Green.

People really enjoy hating on Gordon, I see.

Hayward is an excellent FT shooter.

Why on earth he has not utilised his skill of driving and fishing for fouls is beyond me.
He likes to pass... Way too much..most of the time im wishing for him to be selfish and be a freaking lead us on offense whenever Kyrie sits... He defers too much.

Is he better than Green or Turner heck even Tatum and Morris... Yes he is better than those guys but we aren't winning anything this yr or any year until we see aggressive version of Hayward... For now all im saying is we are witnessing the Evan Turner version of Hayward, can he be better of course he can, there is a reason Danny paid the guy 31 million, its because he can be an Alpha if he wants to.

I'm really tempted to post a picture of Gordon's broken ankle here, just to really drive home in a visceral way how silly it is that you're complaining about Gordon's approach to the game right now without acknowledging his injury.

lol you have been one of the haters right from the start.

Kyrie had an infection on his knee, his legs were structurally sound. Hayward couldn't even walk for months. Also aside from FG%, Hayward's stats are all better than Green's.

We lose 2 straights and suddenly, Brown and Hayward's haters come back to life. Never mind that players were going in and out of lineups with lots of days off and sudden back to backs. It will ruin whatever momentum players have built. Add the fact that we are missing probably our most important player, or at least the one we could not afford to lose.

Don't bother, in his eyes, Kyrie's knee infection is just as severe as what Hayward suffered.

Really? You can't think of a single reason why Hayward might still be timid about hunting for contact? Not one reason?

enough with this injury excuse. He already has done several alleyhoop attempts. He also had several FT attempts in his breakout 34 point game...why because he was driving strong..

and now he has gone back to being timid again. Its like he has been possessed by the great Jeff Green himself.

No comparison really, beyond both being basketball players.

Hayward is coming off the bench now, which is constructive. Regrettably, Morris and Baynes are out and Hayward "isn't ready" to start yet.

Don't see why he won't continue to improve. He is a supernb shooter and passer who, at this point in his recovery, defers out of a lot of scoring opportunities.

He did snap his leg in two not all that long ago. You can do a lot of "work" and rehab and extra practice, but, that sh*& isn't just something you take care of in the training room like a hammy or something right?

I've got friends who were combat wounded in Nam and elsewhere and other friends who were corpsman and MASH unit surgeons. They are wired to deal with that...I'm not.

I hope the kid works it out. When he's got it going on the basketball court, he's really, really good.

I hope he works it out soon too.  His closest NBA comparison (Wally Szczerbiak) retired at 31.

Has Jeff Green become the stick to beat all our under performing wings with?

He is still active in the league do maybe we trade a beat up Marcus Morris for him and get under luxury tax

I would rather stick needles in my eyes than replace "money" Morris with "passive" Green.
