  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Hayward is more skilled, has more potential for improvement. Id prefer Hayward.

As people have mentioned, Green's 1.7 assists/game really bothers me. Is he just a rich man's 3 and D guy? I still just always see him as a stretch 4 pretending to be a 3, with the one difference being his ability to draw fouls.

Other than that he's just not very versatile on offense. He's never going to have a great handle and he doesn't have the body control/vision to improvise on drives, whether it be to modify his shot, change directions, or dish to open guys. He shoots well enough but is not a great shooter.

Couple that with his passive demeanor and you've just got a boring, un-sexy trade asset. Even his name is boring. Jeff Green. Don't you think if he showed some fire that he'd be an easier sell to teams who want a big name? It's hard for me imagine Rudy Gay on his massive deal has more trade value than Green, but Gay is a "star" and he jacks a million shots and teams like the Raptors and Kings eat it up before regurgitating a year later.

I try not to be tough on him because based on his salary he's not supposed to be a no 1, or even no 2 option. Yes, the Celtics did have some hope he could outperform his contract and resemble a top guy on a bad team but it's not in his nature to go out and jack 15-20 shots/game. He is what he is and he plays a team game and is probably making what he should be making.

Hayward is actually quite athletic too. He doesn't look it but he can REALLY explode.

Jeff Green is bigger but he doesn't use it  :-\ I'm hoping it's because without a full time point guard JG's stuck in traffic.

He is what he is and he plays a team game and is probably making what he should be making.

In 20 games since being traded to the Kings, he's averaging 21.0 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 3.1 APG, 2.1 SPG, 0.8 BPG, 52.5% FG, 37.0% 3PT, 85.3% FT

I didn't like him, and questioned him plenty of times, simply cause some users wanted him here due to the familiarity between him and Rondo. But it was a nice grab by the Kings, who are definitely benefiting from him being there.

He's also taking only 15.2 shots a game, which is the lowest since his rookie year back in 06-07' and that's exactly why he's been so effective in Sacramento. He's being more selective, a smarter player and he gets to be the #2 which fits him much better because we know he's not a #1.

And that is good for him either way. Gay always felt pressured, admitting at times during Grizzlies post game interviews that he felt he had to be the 'guy,' and didn't feel comfortable. Hollins told him to make sure to shoot first, and try to score as much as possible. But Gay can't be the main focal point of any offense.

With Cousins being the go to guy, there is less pressure, and Gay has played exceptionally due to that.

GD is better bc he is more consistent. Also he is a better shooter. A big premium placed on good shooting, especially 3 pt shooting

I watched a Jazz game the other day.

I don't recommend it.

Honestly I don't think Rudy Gay is even taking better shots from what I've seen. He just is having a hot shooting streak.

He benefits from not being the number on option but I don't see him continuing to be a good shooter. He hasn't been one since he hurt his shoulder.

Gordon is better than Jeff, the question is if Hayward is better enough that he would improve our team after giving up pieces to replace him
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

This post is almost prescient in it's comparison of the two players.  Both players were added to stacked rosters in the hopes of building a dynasty and both had season ending surgeries early in their Celtic's careers that derailed championship hopes- Jeff Green's was even life threatening,

Both struggled with recovery as well.  Though ruled 100% healthy after their seasons, off Jeff Green never became the night-in-night-out scorer many had projected him to be and Gordon Hayward still lacks the burst to get around even the league's oldest player - Jamal Crawford.

Like Jeff Green, Hayward will likely have a long NBA career as a valued veteran presence and role-player/spot-starter.
