  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Says he had one call about Rondo and it was a quick conversation. 'He's our guy' etc.
Says Rondo will review recovery with surgeon in Florida in the next few weeks.
Is questioned to re-iterate his position on this upcoming draft.
Says he doesn't think it's like the Melo, Bron, Wade, Bosh draft but there are some good players.
They talk about Wiggins (unnamed player facing criticism from first practices) and Ainge says 'that same player will be up for the number one draft spot in 3 months'.

Says he'd love to have some of the players in the 2014 draft.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Take your time, Rajon. I want to see you play again but we need us some Wiggins/Parker/Randle.

I know it is the other knee and a different (less serious) injury but I gotta think the news that Rose went down again scared the bejesus out of Ainge and probably delayed Rondo's return.

Well, since Rose's repaired knee held up he didn't need more recovery time.

Fortunately, Rondo doesn't rely on changing directions like Rose. I'm not sure anyone in the NBA puts more stress on their legs.

Still must scare a lot of players out there that have torn any type of ligaments. I tend to think maybe since they say after the surgery the knees actually stronger than the other maybe other knee weakens and more opt to blow out

I think Rose had "recovered" completely, but given the way he plays, his knee was going to take a while to get back to normal (for him). That led him to compensate with his right leg more on cuts, etc., and that's what caused this injury. That's also all speculation, but this is why I think Rose is not necessarily a great comparison for anyone. That being said, I think the point of emphasis for Rondo is: are you completely comfortable? If not, for the love of god, continue rehab.

It would be interesting to see some of the reactions if Rondo ended up sitting out until, say, the C's had been eliminated from the playoffs.

Guys who are afraid to get hurt, get hurt.   Like you said compensation and caution can really tighten you up and make you prone to injury.    I think Rondo will play with more abandon than Rose.  it should help him.  Look at Adrian Peterson, he came back and went full bore and he didn't get hurt.

I think a safe estimate is 6 weeks for Rondo - say he visits Dr. Andrews in the next 2/3 weeks and is cleared for contact.  I think the C's would give him about a month to practice....I say early January for his return...

Wow, it only took seven posts for All Day to get brought up this time.

A week ago or so, I predicted a November return.  With the end of this month looming quickly, I am going to revise my prediction to an early December return.

"On the first day of Christmas, the basketball gods gave to me, one great point guard . . . "
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I would love to get him back around Christmas--the "real" start of the NBA season.

I don't think he is coming back this year, unless someone overpays for him.

With what happened with Rose the other night, and 2nd surgery Shumpert had to get over the past summer i'm sure it was put a scare on everyone.

If rondo was OK to comeback after December, he would have to play 110 percent for the team to stay competitive game in and game out.  More risk of injury that way

Next season fill up the team with talent from trades/FA/draft and try Rondo then. If he gets traded for the highest return , so be it. If unfortuantely he gets reinjured and its career threatning, at least there is no more future contract obligations

Do you still see us making the playoffs?... or are you revising that prediction too?

I'd be surprised to see Rondo back before January.
