For the record, I expect Brooklyn to dig out of this hole. Too much talent. But what if they continue to stink? What if Deron continues to be plagued by injuries and they finish at the bottom of the standings this year... and it carries over into next year?
Atlanta will get their 2014 pick.
Think we stand a chance at signing Pierce in the offseason using the MLE? He's an unrestricted free agent. Why would he bother sticking around? Why not come back to Boston?
Would it be a lock that KG retires in the offseason? He's signed on through 2014-15. Any chance that the Nets would buy him out? Brooklyn still owns their 2015 pick, right? Wouldn't they just be best off buying out KG and tanking next season so they can make use of the lone draft pick they still have? Then I imagine they'd try to put together a competitive team quickly since we own their 2016, 2018 and have the option of swapping with them in 2017.
If KG got bought out next year, what's the chances he signs with Boston for the 2nd half of the season... joining a returned Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo (finally healthy), Jabari Parker... and the rest of our team?
Lol
