The Derrick Rose situation has me wondering which teams would give up on playoff aspirations and try to rebuild if they had a bad injury to the wrong player.  Ideally, it would be a team who would have an star deemed too old to be part of a massive rebuild who Ainge could grab for draft picks.

In the past, I've speculated that the utter destruction of Rose or Zach Randolph could lead to Joakim Noah or Marc Gasol being available in the 2014 off-season.  Some teams interested in heading in a tanking direction could be willing to sell off veteran centers in anticipation of the several big men expected to be available in the 2015 draft.

What other teams are a catastrophic injury away from having some fans clamoring for their team to blow it up and tank?

Portland comes to mind, if Lillard suffered some kind of season ending injury Portland might try to trade LaMarcus Aldridge. Although I don't know if the celtics have enough assets to trade for him.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

This doesn't jive with the Hawks'other recent moves, but maybe if Teague went down they'd trade Horford and start over around Teague?

Other possibilities:

Timberwolves
Lakers
Kings (although I'm not sure if they qualify as being able to blow it up)
Raptors

If something happened to Melo, the Knicks would be all-in on a tank.  But I figure they will win games soon.

That, and if you're talking about the '14 season, there's no incentive to tank as their pick is already heading to Denver or Orlando. But yeah, even with the rough start they're still as good a bet as anyone in the Atlantic to take the division.

The reason all these Shumpert deals are being floated is because the Knicks basically don't have any picks to trade.  They sent their next-to-last trade assets out in the hopes that Bargnani would save them.

Best case scenario for the Celtics is that the Knicks go through some Melo-drama and end up trading Anthony for a bunch of picks and young players, so they have some useful stuff that Ainge can swindle from them.

the celtics should totally go after Noah if the Bulls are going into tanking mode. He is exactly the defensive force in the middle we need to build a contender. Noah, Rondo, Green, and one of Sullinger or Olynyk would be a good start.

Trade Bradley and Humphries for Eric Gordon and we are in great shape.

Rondo
Gordon
Green
Sullinger
Noah

Assuming Gordon can stay healthy, that's a good lineup.

Of course, assuming Gordon can stay healthy, there's no way Bradley and Humphries can get him.
