Dunno if this has been suggested:

Rondo, C.Lee, Wallace
for
Felton, Shumpert, Stoudemire, first round pick(s)

Celtics:
Felton/Crawford
Shumpert/Bradley
Green/
Sullinger/Bass/Olynyk
Faverani/Stoudemire

Knicks:
Rondo/Prigioni
C.Lee/JR
Wallace/MWP
Anthony/Bargnani
Chandler/Martin

Makes sense for both teams.

Until you realize that NY has no tradable first round draft picks until 2018.

I like 'Melo's game more than most CB'ers, but I still think that him leaving New York is an incredible longshot.

I would not trade Rondo for ANYONE on the Knicks, and that first rounder from NY (not available til 2018) just makes it more easier to not pull the trigger

Right. I actually think it's more likely that Rondo ends up in New  York than 'Melo ends up anywhere else, although I don't see either as being real possibilities (and will continue to believe so until Rondo's back on the court).

For my money, 'Melo cares much more about being on the Knicks than he does winning a title. I think he'd rather win a ring than not (go figure), but I think he very much wants to retire in NY and join the fraternity of beloved Knicks players.

EDIT:

According to the ESPN trade machine, Wallace, Lee, and Humphries for STAT and Shumpert works. I sit squarely on the fence on that one.

Haven't we had a thread before about tha Knicks and Rondo?

I said no then and still say no now. There's no one on tha Knicks roster I would trade Rondo for.

Danny shouldn't even entertain anything coming from NY regarding Rondo.... or maybe even anyone else.

Who wouldn't want to make an offer for Rondo now that he's still recovering from ACL injury? The good thing is Danny knows Rondo will be back 100% and those lowball offers won't be considered.

If the Knicks want to get rid of Stoudamire, here's a variation of the Wallace/Bass/Lee for Stoudamire.

Humphries/Lee/Bass/Crawesome for Stat/Shumpert/Hardaway Jr.

The Knicks get the best players in the trade(1 to 4), get rid of Stat and save money with Hump's expiring contract. They have no draft picks so they have to give us Hardaway Jr.

The Celtics improve their tanking powers, save Lee's third year, and a Rondo/Bradley/Shumpert guard rotation is pretty good at defense. Hardaway Jr. could be a good asset to sweeten a future Wallace trade.

Of course, getting rid of Wallace+Lee third year's money would be great, but you could end getting only Stat's corpse for three good players in Lee/Wallace/Bass, just for a salary dump.

To be honest we are in a better position to get the Knicks to trade us Melo, than they are to get us to trade them Rondo.  Having said that who would have thought Danny would have accepted the players he took on  for KG and the truth before the deal went down? I certainly didn't

I like this better than us trading Rondo, unless we know Rondo is not 100%.

Celtics interested in Durant, LeBron and Dwight Howard.

Ainge is very willing to offer Lee, Bass, Bogans, G-Wallace, Avery Bradley for two or three of the above players.

Edit: will even settle for just one of the above players.

If we only get one of those players I'm hoping it's a forward and not a center.

The sad thing is, some Knick fans think they genuinely have a shot at trading for Rondo. Or they'll just wait until 2015 to sign him because there's no way he'd turn the Knicks down...Laker syndrome.

Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

My favorite excerpt from a comment on that board, in the context of how adding Rondo will make the Knicks into the big3-era Celtics:

If I'm a star, I would want to go to a team that isn't run by a paranoid idiot and his BFF who parties during the playoffs and can't stop smoking weed.

Priceless  ;D

Also, news from WEEI today was that the Celtics have already said 'No' to the Knicks two times.

Shumpert apparently had a second knee procedure this summer. He's clearly damaged goods.

On the other hand, I don't feel like we're giving up anything for taking a flier on him in this deal (and we're unloading Wallace in the process), so it should be a no-brainer.

Yeah, that made me chuckle too lol

That poster seems to be one of the only realist on the board.

Yeah, it's a no-brainer on paper. I just happen to like what Wallace and Lee bring to the team. I also like Shump's game, and while I know the odds of Stat being healthy are about as good as Doc coming back as our coach, that would be a nice silver lining if he could stay patched together.
