What up, lets just skip to the quote  ;D!
Quote
Of course, the Knicks primary target is Rondo, Boston's All Star point guard who is currently recovering from knee surgery. The Knicks have been trying to trade Shumpert, Raymond Felton and Amar'e Stoudemire in a complicated deal for Rondo but the rebuilding Celtics has yet to show much interest. Unless the Celtics are blown away with an offer it's hard to imagine Celtics GM Danny Ainge trading his best player, Rondo, to the rival Knicks. New York Daily News

Bad trade if you ask me. Stoudemire has an awful contract, and im not as sold on Shumpert as many other seems to be. In fact I think that he is average at best.. :-X I would keep Rondo for now if I was Ainge!
Jack of all trades, master of none.

If I could trade Avery Bradley, Kris Humphries and Courtney Lee for an All Star, I would too.

hell no to rondo for melo. Rondo actually makes his teammates better and is a big game player. Melo is the most selfish player in the nba.

Yup. I'm not worried though, no real chance this happens. Just early season chatter.

I like Shump, but Felton's never played well outside of NYC and taking on A'mare without shipping out at least one of our own contracts makes it a non-starter.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Carmelo wants Rondo badly. They will offer Rondo the maximum salary in the 2015-16 season when he's a free agent.
They'll have Amare coming off the books for over 23 million!
Rondo will command about 14-15 million which will still leave them about 8 or 9 million to play with.

He's absolutely perfect for that team of three point shooters and he'd shore up middle penetration. It's too bad that they'll probably have traded Shumpert before then- I guess the good news is they could potentially wait to see if Shumpert becomes a significant player before moving him.

This is what worries me with Rondo.
If we can't find any trade partners for a star, or we don't get any decent picks or All Star additions- he could get sick of losing for 2 seasons straight. The Knicks are that big market, with an established star who can score- leaving Rondo to just wine and dine with assists and playmaking.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Actually, looking at their situation, they'll have much, much less cap space to play with than you think.

http://data.shamsports.com/content/pages/data/salaries/knicks.jsp

Even if they renounce Bargnani and Amare, Tyson Chandler plus Melo's cap hold alone starts the Knicks at $37 million. Add another $15 million or so in additional guaranteed contracts, and you're already at $52 million.

Add in the MLE, plus additional minimum level contracts, and Rondo isn't getting that much of an offer from the Knicks.

LoL....yeah I really hope he doesn't leave but he wants to win. If we can't put a winning team on the floor with him why would he stay? For the memories of Pierce and KG's corpses?

They'll have Melo, Chandler and 23 million in cap room. Not a bad core to add Rondo to. If they trade JR Smith by then they could potentially have another 15 million dollars after adding Rondo. WOW.

If the Knicks agreed to this move, I would do it.

Rondo, Bass and Lee for Shumpert, Felton and Chandler.

I actually happen to think Felton and Shumpert are better than a lot are making them out to be.

Plus, getting a tough center like Chandler would be great.

I actually like this team a lot:

PG -Felton/Pressey
SG- Shumpert/Bradley
SF-Green/Wallace
PF-Sully/Humph
C-Chandler/Olynyk/Faverani.

One thing I can agree on, I don't really want anything to do with Stat's contract.

Also, I am not sold that Rondo/Melo would work out so well.

Please no.

Shumpert is good. Felton has fluked half a season and a few games in the playoffs. But a lot of that was with JKidd on the floor.

Chandler is Skinny and has serious health questions.

Pass and a half.

Under no circumstances should we trade Rondo especially to the Knicks.

When I read this thing about Shumpert for Rondo I emotionally threw up. But there is no way Ainge is that stupid.
