Bulkier adv:
- Able to not get bullied around the paint as much.
- Able to get deeper position in the post on the offensive end (increase ways to score)
- possibly increase rebounding numbers

Leaner adv:
- On the defensive end - Increased lateral quickness
- On the offensive end moves swiftly vs choppy.  For example viewing the clip below, a few times he scores by making one or two dribbles near the three point line then pulling up for a jump shot (nba calibre mid range shot). Right now even he is unable to do it as easy due to his added heft. It takes a half a sec longer to get going, half a sec longer to gather himself before able to lift off the ground.

In college it was definitely for his best interest to add weight and learn how to play under the basket majority of the time. He took advantage of
shorter/smaller/underdeveloped centers

Fast forward to his early nba career and i think he is now stuck not having enough heft but also not enough speed/athleticism for what he wants to do out there.

Even if he adds 10-20 more pounds and can handle the big bodies down low better, can he still make it harder for others to score over him? (short wingspan).  How much more physical can he play? How much will his PNR defense suffer? On the offensive end, with now able to get deeper position, can he still shoot over guys??

If he stays where he is now or loses 5 pounds and gets lean, imo i think he can play the "stretch" 4 game better.  Stevens is already playing him out in the perimeter 80 percent of the time.  He will still have the size to take on players that are undersized/shorter in the post. (which is no different than how he is playing now)

thoughts?

How about just stronger?   Tranforming some of that babyfat into muscle.

Agreed. KO may never appear ripped--but neither did Paul Pierce, though Pierce was quite strong for his position.

Yup. This is what i mean staying his current weight but getting leaner , adding definition while getting stronger

Some of the fans here would like to see him at 260. But im not sure if that will actually mess up his perimeter game while adding little value underneath

Some of his most impressive skills are the ability to run, handle the ball, and penetrate from the outside.  Getting bulkier would hamper all of that.

I agree. The question is what are his adv in the nba?

so far from what ive seen Its not operating from the post agaisnt size nor shooting the three.

Its that mid rang game that will make him a really good player in the league. Paul pierce style.

He's not going to get any more lateral quickness than he already has. And given that he doesn't have much, he's unlikely to lose much, either.

He'll eventually grow into his body in a couple of years. Not too worried about this.

I think when he gets comfortable he will be a good all around offensive player, passing included.  I think he has a lot of different skills that he brings to the table.  He may not be great at any one thing, but I think he will be a good offensive player when he gets comfortable.

Definitely definitely leaner AND stronger. He can remain about the same weight and be successful, but he should be on an aerobic routine that is out of this world, while still doing at least an average weight lifting routine.

He has the potential to be a very good player in this league, but I don't think that it's as a defensive anchor under the hoop.

I would much rather see him go for the KG body type than the Pekovic body type.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I wouldn't be surprised that next season we see him in better, stronger shape. He's spent the last few years just trying to gain the weight so he could hold his own.

Now its turning that weight into strength. He didn't get that much time to do it this summer, so next after taking a few weeks off he can hit the weights.

Yup, KO needs to get stronger to handle NBA power forwards and the occasional center.  But that does not mean get fatter.

Yeah, stronger.

This year he gets his butt pushed around, then spends the offseason in the gym, and comes back in 14-15 as a sophomore sensation.

That's my call.
