yea i agree with everyone, Asik be great but price too high....but what if we can get a 3rd team involved? idk who that team would be yet b/c i'm not sure what houston really wants...just a thought here

like this:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=msvck7c

bos: asik
OKC: bradley and bass
hous: perk and reggie jackson

No way I'm trading Bradley and Bass just to get Asik.

I understand where your coming from, but as for me i'm not a huge bradley fan, he is decent I just feel like finding a starting center is worth more than bradley. losing Bass too isnt a tipping point for me either bc helps clear mins for sully and KO.

I don't know why would the Rockets prefer getting Reggie AND PERK instead of Bass and Bradley

I bet you Doc would give them Deandre Jordan and a pick.

If I were OKC, I would offer them Perkins and Steven Adams.

If I were Cleveland, I would offer them Varejao.

If I were Boston, I would certainly offer any combination of Humphries, Wallace, and Faverani and then would certainly not hold my breath.

If I were the Knicks, I would kill myself.

HOU trades: Omer Asik, Jeremy Lin, Terrance Jones
MIA trades: Chris Bosh

'Thats so Morey'

One of the best trade ideas I've seen in terms of balance. Miami could even flip Chalmers if they want Lin to start but he can still play of the bench.

Unload Asik for a solid 3rd option in Houston.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

i feel like perk would help more as a backup big than bass as many on here dont view bass as a starter....and reggie has more upside i feel like and can pass the ball alot better than bradley.....it just depends on what the rockets want

i think bass and bradley be great for rockets honestly...but if they want a more def. presence down low and a better scorer and passer than perk and jackson might be better.....

this is judt the first 3 team trade i could think of

Does anyone disagree with my description of Asik's value as being about as useful as prime Perkins on offense, with better defense and massively better rebounding?

If we're going down this road, might Houston be even better off keeping freaky Terrance Jones, acquiring a future pick, and rolling out a starting five of Lin, Harden, Parsons, Bosh, and Asik?

What's happening with Howard in this situation?

It seems to me that Bass would be a good fit for Houston.  Not as good as Bosh as was suggested but I don't see Miami trading Bosh for Asik plus parts.

Someone mentioned Bass + Faverani.  I would think that would interest Houston.  There always seems to be someone who will overpay though.  I have not seen Asik play enough to have a great feel for how good he is.  He is 27 so he may not become much more than he is (career 5.5 pts, 7.0 rebs, in 19.0 minutes).  His one year at 10.1 pts, 11.7 rebs could be an outlier that he never achieves again or it could be what he would produce if put back in a comfortable situation (and given minutes).

Can anyone say definitively how his salary would work if he is traded?  Don't we have to pay more than the $8.3M?  Is $8.3M what has to be matched and counts against the salary/luxury cap?

You got it.  He makes just under $15 million next year, but it only counts as $8.3 million in team salary.  Lin's contract is structured exactly the same way.

Also, Bass and Faverani is probably one of the most reasonable Asik trade suggestions I've seen thus far.

Same, as I said on the blog.

Some sort of trade that dumps Wallace, Hump, Brooks, Bass or Lee ,   Some combo of these would be good.   Asik already 27 ...wow,   Older than I knew,   But he logged easy miles,   Played backup role and healthy as a horse.   So he'll have good 5 or so productive years.    He is built solid ,and can take the pounding.

Think he and KO. Or Sully would be a force in the paint .   Add Green , AB and Rondo......that's a solid core .    Plus a couple nice draft picks.  Celtics back to playoff form.

Need to dump the Nets garbage ,  maybe Wallace would be excited to play on. Contender like Houston  ???

Asik is certainly a good back up on a contender for low money

He's proven to be a high level player at the position, not a backup. Top half starter in the league because of his defensive ability.
