Melo has already stated he'd like to play with Rondo and doesn't this seem a lot like Ray Allen or Garnett? A star in their early 30's (Melo is 30) who hasn't won a ring yet?

Obviously, it's in a vacuum and doesn't take into account if NYK would do it, but you trade a Jeff Green package for Carmelo Anthony?

Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

Not sure, because trading for Melo means paying him $130 million if/when you resign him.

Rondo + Melo talent wise is what you want to contend. But I'm not sure they'd mesh well enough to contend which is what you want from two players who are going to be asking for max dollars. (Not sure what Rondo actually will get his next contract, but he'll ask for max to start with)

I'd probably take the risk though and try and make it work.

no interest at all in Carmelo. guy's a black hole -- he'll never win a championship in his prime.

Hell Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. no. Carmelo is a gloried chucker and a massive ball hog. He would totally ruin the ball sharing and overall attitude of this team. He also has a tendency to come up small in the playoffs. Has only ever lead his team past the first round ONCE.

Green is a smart player who knows when to take his shots and when to pass. He is very efficient at scoring the ball because he doesn't force up bad shots like Melo. He's much faster and more athletic. And he's showing improvement game by game. Go back and look at him in 2011. He's a totally different player now. The same can not be said for Melo. He's shown us what he can do, and to be honest, it's really not that impressive.

I wouldn't trade Green for Melo is a straight up swap. Forget the other pieces in the deal.

Yes - Melo is a top 10 player and Jeff Green is lucky to be a top 40.  Rondo with Melo would be lethal...Melo would probably score 35 a night....

Melo has better numbers across the board.  Better scorer, rebounder and averages more assist.  It's a no brainer...

In a heart beat.

Of course the only way would be to include Rondo, take back bad salaries and of course, have Melo demand his way out of NY.

Jeff Green is a roller coaster.  You get some really high points and some really low points.

Melo's highs are highers and his dips are also quite high.

I would not trade Rondo and Green to get Melo.  The Celtics need Rondo and some other type of usable building blocks to get one more top level player to keep Melo.

His salary would be my primary worry too, besides the less desirable aspects of his game: lack of defense and his efficiency, but otherwise, I think I'd take the gamble too. He's just a much better player than Green.

I would quite literally have any other high-profile star on my team than Carmelo. I don't like his game, I don't like his attitude, and I don't like the way he left Denver. Heck, I don't even like his stupid nickname.

I wouldn't trade Rondo and Green for him, the whole purpose to get Melo would to pair him with Rondo.  But I would give Green + anyone but Rondo to get him.  Durant and Melo are the two best pure scorers in the NBA.  Rondo would get him so many easy buckets...

Absolutely. Assuming Rondo isn't involved in the deal....another really underrated part of Melo's game - he's a premiere rebounder for his position.
