This is the most fun I've had watching the Celtics since Shaq got hurt. Boston had an amazing 3.5 year stretch, but had been on a slow downward spiral since Shaq's injury/Perk's trade. It stopped being fun. We weren't contenders anymore. Aside from that flukey overachieving series vs Miami. That wasn't a lot of fun either, because we pretty much knew they would inevitably kick it into gear and beat us... and we only beat a crappy Atlanta and Philly team to get there in the first place. Just wasn't a lot of fun.
Boston could lose 90% of the games from here on out, but it doesn't matter. It's fun watching a young team that isn't mailing in regular season games. We aren't watching a bunch of jaded and bored vets. These kids are going to try their butts off every game. There's no pressure to win. We know we're probably going to settle in as one of the 8 worst teams in the league, but there's hope. Either we bottom out and get a great pick (hope for the future)... or we surprise everyone and win games... which means these kids (Bradley, Crawford, Sully and Oly) might have serious potential afterall. Either way, there's hope. Either way, it's fun to watch. It reminds me of watching the Gerald Green/Delonte/Big Al days. Just waiting to see Big Al become a 20 and 10 player... you could feel it... we were losing games, but you felt like at any moment he'd make a leap and we'd suddenly start streaking. That's what this season already feels like. You make a trade or two to clear up the log jam (trade Bass, for instance) and maybe Sully starts putting up 20 and 10. He's already putting up 20 and 10 per 36 minutes... it almost seems possible. Love watching the young kids. Still don't know how Rondo fits into this, but whatever. Ainge is a rockstar.
