Very interesting article in the Boston Herald.

Quote
“They haven’t spoken to me,” Allen said before last night’s game against what remained of his former team. Allen played 24 minutes and had five points with three assists as the Celtics stunned the defending champion Heat, 111-110. Allen admittedly is hurt, because he doesn’t understand the difference between their trade out of Boston last summer and his decision to leave two years ago. Deep down, Allen believes Pierce and Garnett determined their own fate.

“For them to be so upset with me is disappointing because of how everything happened,” Allen said. “That banner in 2008 is still going to be there, and we’re still going to be tied to it. “Look, I have a feeling they were in the same predicament I was in this summer. Even with Doc (Rivers), he had to make a decision that was best for himself. I was in the same situation. I’m happy they were put into the same situation as I was. Anytime you get traded there’s no telling where you could end up. They’re in a situation now where they can contend. Kevin had to make that decision, and that was the predicament I was in.”

Allen laughed when asked if Rivers, whose Clippers lost to the Heat last week, has reached out. Rivers, like Garnett and Pierce, was also critical of Allen’s move. “Doc talked to me like I was still on his team,” Allen said. “I got heavily criticized by each one of them the minute I left. They were upset. But the writing was on the wall for us. (Celtics management) was saying, ‘Hey, we’re moving in a different direction.’ And each one of us had to make that choice. Where can we go to be successful and continue to play good basketball.” Boston Herald

you made your decision, and they made theirs not to talk to you, deal with it and stop crying.

Boston was very very good to you, yet you took less money to be with the team probably most hated by the team. The team that broke your young point guard's arm during a playoff game.

Boston was very very good to you, I did not see Garnett's or Pierce's family getting major airtime during Celtics games like your mother did. Yet you bailed at the very first hint of adversity. You did not reach out to Kevin or Paul as you ran out of town to the hated heat

You are right, you made a choice that was best for you, NOW DEAL WITH IT.

Of course Doc talked to you like you are on his team. YOU ARE ON HIS TEAM. It is called the team of traitors. PP and KG were shipped out of town against their will, they went because management wanted them to go. YOU AND DOC, not so much.

Now get lost.

Eh, I don't buy it all but still feel bad for him all the same.

I wouldn't be surprised if KG in particular still hasn't talked to him. Regardless, I also feel bad for him.

Are you upset with management for their egregious breach in loyalty, then?

this is not about management. This thread is about Ray Allen and his refusal to move on.

He was asked the question.  Don't see why he shouldn't answer it honestly.

he gave his opinion and since I disagree with his position of moral equivalency, I posted my opinion.

I do not fault him for his decision, but he needs to accept the tag of traitor because it fits. Oh, and he should not equate his departure with KG's or PP's.

I truly hope PP and KG get their numbers retired, but not Ray's.

"He doesn’t understand" - that's the crux of it. Ray Allen still doesn't understand, after a year and a half, how he betrayed Pierce & KG, and Celtics fans everywhere.

Too bad for you Mr. Allen, you threw away what could've and should've been remembered as a special group of people to the toilet, now we'll have to deal with the betrayal drama for the rest of our lives when we recall our 2008 Championship. Thanks for the memories. But hey, now at least you can reminiscence about winning another one with your new pa'l Chris Bosh.

I get DA trying to move him that last season because we were really stinking it up at that point.

I get Allen for wanting to leave on his terms and not be part of trade talks.

I don't think people would have reacted the same way if he went to the Clippers, or Knicks, or just about any other contending team.

But when you go to the team that every one but a SMALL select group hates, including other NBA teams. And that team is your former teams rival that you hatted. And you still go to that team even though your former team gives you more money and a no trade clause. You will have people not speaking to you and call you a trader.

End of Story....

It really doesn't matter..they have better things to worry about with the Nets instead of trying to pick up the phone to  see how Ray is feeling.

I want to know has he tried calling them? If not, then it looks like everyone just moved on instead of making it seem like he's waiting by the phone and KG and PP are being grumpy old men.

I really don't feel bad for him at all. You sleep in the bed you make so If it's uncomfortable then tough... Ray you're a basketball legend but you need to accept that you won't be a Celtic legend. You fight for the man fighting beside you and Ray took off. He was always the odd man out and will be remembered that way.

Come on, Ray. You can't demand double the money and turn down a no trade clause then wonder why everyone hates you when you jump ship to a powerhouse team that you just lost to in a hard fought game seven in the conference finals.
