Cs gets Perk, Vessily

OKC gets Bass , Lee , 2nds from Cs and Wiz

Wiz get Sefolosha


Why I think it works,

OKC
Perk hasn't been earning his nearly 9mill a year and the OKC fans are calling for Adams to start. Bass is an upgrade as a player over Perk and will allow then to go with a smaller more skilled front court with Ibaka and Druant. Lee has been up and down the last couple of year but at his best he is better then Sefolosha. The bottom line is this trade adds talent to OKC and 2 2nd round picks.

Wiz
They ditch a bust who they arnt bringing back in Vessily and gain a defensive minded veteran who is on an expiring deal. Bottom line this adds a solid player to there rotation for nothing.

Cs
This deal clears up caps space. Adds a familiar face and leader who is friends with rondo.  Vessily is a bust but maybe phili would be willing to take his deal to give him one last shot. This would free cap romm for Kendall Marshall.

There isn't a big market in the NBA for solid fill in players like Bass and Lee. Most teams are either tanking for super stars or caped out and filling holes with over the hill vets. clearing cap space and having a 9 mill expiring deal for next season is a good haul for those two players.

I agree with your analysis.

I don't agree that the ghost of Kendrick Perkins (and his expiring contract) and the privilege of being the last NBA stop for Jan Vesely are solid returns for a pair of guys who could very likely play themselves into a higher valued pair of trade pieces.

Howard is my one concern with this trade. Perks history with him could keeping him relevant in the west.

I'd try to pry Jeremy Lamb away from OKC. Something like Perk/Lamb for Green/Brooks. That might not be enough for OKC but Perk isn't helping them at all. This trade makes them a small ball team but Miami has shown that when you have dominant wing players that can work.

Sign a couple of shooters at the minimum and you've got a Miami clone. I don't know if Durant can carry them like Lebron or if Westbrook will stay healthy but their current formula isn't working. I'm of the opinion that even if Westbrook had stayed healthy they would have lost to the Spurs last year. They either need to get tricky with a trade like this or start spending over the tax to win.

Perkins is just too old, injured, and slow to do anyhting against Howard anymore.

I think that team would match up well against Miami if nothing else. Of course there's the whole ton of reasons why it wouldn't happen to consider.

With that being said, how does trading for Perk help us at all? Perk was huge for us when KG was by his side because KG was able to bring out the best in Perks abilities on the floor and even as a leader. Other than that, Perk hasn't been a big difference maker anywhere hes played.

I see your logic in getting Perk back, but I don't want him.  If it happens, I wouldn't be mad, not that Ainge would care what I think.
