It was pretty funny when Rubio gave a tiny fake and Brooks jumped out of the way so Rubio could have a clear path to go in for the layup. Even Rubio was laughing as he was taking the layup. Classic Rubio and classic Brooks.
1) That he was faked out on a great, split-second, inside-out dribble is no reason to bury the guy. Jeesh. He's probably more than a little rusty anyway with all of the playing time he's gotten this year

2) Does he need to work on defense? Yes, but let's not forget that the kid does have a tremendous wingspan for a sg (7'1") that should really help him develop into a much better defender. I'll stop right there before I sound too much like Jay Bilas.
3) He's played 28 minutes now this year. After missing his first midrange jumper, Max said something like, "That's no way to make the most of your opportunity." No matter how hard you work, not everyone can be Vinnie Johnson. I thought he was going to get pulled off the court right there, and I think Brooks was thinking the same thing. You cannot have a guy not play and then take him out after he misses a shot or makes a mistake. The coach of our high school basketball team did that. I never played, but my friends did, and there would have been a lot of pressure on them to not make a mistake and get buried on the bench for the rest of the season, which is no way to play or develop players.
4) I think that had we kept him on draft night, he would've learned so much from Paul, Kevin, and that mercenary in south beach, especially Pierce. Doc never would've played him, but the knowledge would've been invaluable to him, but that's my view. Had Doc played him, he could have been a phenomenal weapon off the bench imo.
5) Brooks actually has a really good post game, and Rubio was guarding him last night, yet we never got him the ball. He did have position, but the matchup wasn't utilized (shocker), otherwise, he could have really exploited it and gained some much-needed confidence, as well as showed Stevens that he can play. We still wouldn't have won, but he certainly could have boosted our offensive output on the second night of a back-to-back.
Plus, as much as people want to bury him for some reason, he certainly wasn't nearly as bad as Jeff Green. That was pathetic. Jeff's a great guy and I really feel bad for the stuff he had to go through and I admire his effort to come back after the heart surgery, but he just doesn't have that killer attitude or aggressive mindset. He could probably help a team like Dallas (maybe) as a great supporting player, particularly defensively as Marion continues to slow down (their salaries match), but he's not a franchise player by any stretch. Sorry Jeff, but you're just too nice on the court. Idk what Danny sees in him, but whatever. I think Marshon might have that Paul Pierce - like attitude, but we'll never know if he doesn't play.
If we really wanted to develop players, why didn't we sign Xavier Henry? That kid has a ton of potential (not to mention that he's an inexpensive contract). Even Devin Ebanks (why not?). Why, Danny? Why?
