I thought Jon Leuer in the 4th instead of Ed Davis was a great coaching change. Davis was having a nightmare against Boston's bigs. Leuer gave them someone who had to be defended. More of a threat offensively. Opened things up better for Memphis. Gave them better balance.

Randolph said some pretty nice words about our young bigs.

I missed it what he said?

He said he liked them, specially Olynyk.
I forgot the rest of what he said, but he said we had a nice young team.

Thanks!!!

I thought Tayshaun Prince should have gotten more minutes. They looked very solid while he was on the floor. Having that extra ball-handler and passer offensively and a rock solid defender. I thought he was quietly a really fine job for them.

Surprised to see that Tayshaun has only been getting around 20 minutes a night in each of the Grizzlies games so far this season. Underutilized.

Mike Miller should not be playing more than Tayshaun Prince.

Prince may still be getting his legs under him. He missed a good chunk of the preseason with a stomach illness that forced him to lose quite a bit of weight.

I just heard Tommy echo my thoughts on Olynyk's defense.  I also thought I heard him refer to Kelly as a "future franchise player."

I love Tommy!!!

Ah, okay. Hopefully it is that. Really enjoy Tayshaun's game.

No PG, no go to scorer = yet another loss.  Most encouraging things were Crawford and Sully.  Crawford's an intriguing backup 1.  Green scoreless down stretch and as someone mentioned - Mike Miller was apparently guarding him.  Your PG needs to recognize that.

So far a perfect start...if you're tanking.  But as losses pile up, the player effort will start to go south - I don't care who's coaching.

I'm sure our PG did recognize that.  Too bad he was sitting on the side lines in a fancy suit.

Let's check my game objectives.  #1 - Hard-fought losses.  #2 - develop the youngs.  #3 - Showcase the overpaid vets.

#1 - We were right in this until the end.  CHECK!

#2 - Sully had his best game, right?  16 points and 5 boards in 21 minutes.  I'll take it!  Oly was kinda bleh, unfortunately.  Bradley was aiight.  Vitor was meh.   They all got plenty of minutes though, so I'm calling this a CHECK!

#3 - Bass and Wallace kinda sucked despite the minutes.  Lee had a solid game in 19 minutes.  I'm on the fence on this one.  None of the contract albatrosses had big stat-padding nights.

Overall... I'll give this one a B-  ... 2 out of 3 objectives complete.

I feel like you didn't see the game.

Olynyk didn't do well offensively in terms of scoring, but he definitely had a lot to do with that 15-0 run they had in the 3rd quarter. He was making all the right plays, all in the right spot, making all the right passes.

So yeah, offensively/scoring he didn't impress me either, but making offense for his team mates and defending the Memphis Bigs, he was really impressive.

Man, tough loss. I understand the silver lining in losing this season but I really wanted to see them pull this one out.

Green did well this game he seemed over matched last game or too respectful of Smith.   I thought Vitor held his own, while he was in there.   Crawford continues to surprise.  Bradley played better but I think the emergence of Crawford is indicative that even Stevens realize AB is no PG.  I think our defense kept us in the game as we kept their bigs contained.   We match decent with Memphis because their bigs are slow and not great athletes.  Sullinger got hot but I do not think he shoots like this from downtown every night.

I think one of the big problems with starting Jordan Crawford instead of Gerald Wallace is a lack of rebounding.

G - Bradley (guards best opposing guard)
G - Crawford (hide on weakest guard)
F - J.Green
F - Bass
C - Faverani

Brandon Bass is a weak rebounding PF. Jeff Green is below average too. Bradley is a weak rebounding SG.

Faverani is a bit more of an unknown but so far he has had one excellent rebounding game against Milwaukee (skinny big, L.Sanders) and three weak rebounding performances against Toronto (Valanciunas), Detroit (Drummond) and Memphis (M.Gasol).

This for a team that is already getting out-rebounded by 4 rebounds a game. One of the weaker rebounding teams in the league.

I think if you swap G.Wallace out for J.Crawford and go with more of a two guard backcourt to get extra ball-handling and shooting on the floor ... I think you gotta follow that up with dropping Brandon Bass to the bench in favour of Jared Sullinger to try and make up some of that rebounding deficit.

G - Bradley (guards best opposing guard)
G - Crawford (hide on weakest guard)
F - J.Green
F - Sullinger
C - Faverani

I think that was one of the big problems with Avery Bradley + Jordan Crawford in preseason. The J.Green + B.Bass forward combination and the lack of Faverani (preseason) as starting center.
