I'm not saying that was a tank job, but fwiw I got a STRONG sense pre-2008 that Doc was forced to showcase players like Mark Blount and bench promising players like Al Jefferson.  It's part of the process.  The ends justify the means.  I'm not saying that Brad was doing that last night, but keep it in mind if you start to see games where Gerald Wallace plays 40 minutes or something.

Oh wait...

Yes, I can see this is going to get very silly.

On the one hand, you guys are going to be saying that we don't have talented enough players to win games, and on the other, you are going to be saying that the ones we are playing represent a "tank" effort.

Yes, it's going to get very silly.

Are you enjoying the tank so far, Celtics18?  I was very pleased with it last night.  We got some good trade-value boosting production out of Green and Humph and still pulled out the loss.  Meanwhile the 76ers won.  Good stuff.

Woo hoo!!!!!!!

Haha. Having a good sense of humor will help this season.

Tank or not, I just want to see the team play hard, and develop value in their current players - value to their future as Celtics, or as trade pieces. Win or lose, that will make me happy. I was very happy with last night's game.

I enjoyed the game and really hope the tank speculation stops.  There is almost no chance (IMO) that Brad Stevens is scheming to lose in the middle of a game.  Sorry, I don't buy it.  ML Carr did (apparently), but sadly he was named head coach with that purpose/plan in mind.  It didn't work and lesson learned.  And different ownership group anyway.
No chance that this coach pulls players mid-game in order to increase the chances of a loss. No way.

With that said, I did think Green should have been on the court a couple minutes earlier in the 4th.

Glad to see Stevens more energetic and emotionally engaged; but not sure why no one has mentioned Lee's atrocious night. When Green sits we need Brooks in for scoring. Brooks is much better than Lee or Crawford IMO and playing Lee and Crawford together in the 4th was what got us in trouble.

Why is Brooks better?  Brooks really isn't an NBA player.  That will be proven when he falls out of the league shortly.

Crawford was good last night and should have played more.  Led the team in assists.

4 minutes of rest and it's a tank job...

If anything, it's a detriment to our bench that they could not keep it close while our best player is getting a breather so he can finish strong in the end games.

You rest him early or late, if our reserves played the way they did last night, it'll be the same result.

Tank job, Jesus Christ. I might get suspended by this but I don't care at this point as this tanking fiasco is driving me insane. I'm ashamed of these so called "fans" who embraces losing and encourage it. What a disgrace.

I'm with you.  The best antidote will be for our team to win enough games to start to quiet those who are rooting for losses.  All the tank talk just makes me root for them even harder.

I dont want to give away our pride for the sake of winning next seasons. It's cheap, and cannot think of any other word to describe it.

If we lose, we lose, but because we are not good enough despite trying hard.

Now, the season seems to look like every time a little mistake that a coach makes, or a player does will be "on purpose" and just doing it because they are "subtly" trying to lose.

I'd rather really have the chucker version of Jordan Crawford than MarShon. We are getting more from Crawford (mainly assists, a little better 3 point shooting and ball handling) than Brooks.

If we have Green on the bench and we need scoring, we need to wake chucker Jordan Crawford up. It may not be efficient, but hey, this kid dropped 39 against the Heat at one point and has two triple doubles in his career. I'd rather have that on the floor than MarShon who I supported but was obviously wrong.
