I know he did most of his offensive work in the first half and struggled some in the second half, but the Hombre just looks like he belongs out there.  To me, his two most impressive qualities are the way he picks and rolls and the fact that he holds his own on defense, both one on one in the post and helping out on others getting in the lane.

The guy just looks like he knows what he's doing in the pick and roll game.  He sets a good screen, knows how to get set without fouling, and he rolls hard and purposefully after setting the pick.

He doesn't look elite as a defender.  He was clearly undersized and under-athletic against a young stud like Valanciunas, but he held his own in there.  He doesn't panic, doesn't commit stupid fouls, and doesn't give in easily.  On the help D, he doesn't come over like a monster, but between the last preseason game and the first regular season game, I'm so impressed with the way he bothers shots with timing and quick hands.  Half his blocks hardly look like blocks to the naked eye.  He doesn't swat it into the second row, he just kind of gets a touch on it while it's still in the offensive player's hands.

The guy looks like an alert, aware, smart, skilled, seasoned pro out there.  I'm not going to go predicting stardom for the young (well--middle aged, by NBA standards) Brazilian, but it sure looks to me like Danny found a keeper.

Still young by 'big' standards, however.

Nah, that's middle aged for NBA. Doesn't mean he won't stay at least this good for many more years, but not likely to have much more improvement after acclimating to NBA this season and then developing next season.

He needs to prove he can board still.

He still needs to prove a lot of things.  But, I'm excited to watch him go out and attempt to prove it.

I'm already impressed. Him and KO need to work on the boards more but that will come in time. Plus Sully and Hump can get boards
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I don't think he's undersized or unathletic compared to Val - I thought he held his own physically.

His problems as a rebounder were conceding the defensive glass to leak out early and, in one case at least, boxing out the wrong man.

He does have a lot of skill in the post and as a finisher in general - it'll be a lot of fun seeing him when Rondo gets back.  No one on this team seems capable or confident of passing into the paint.  That and we don't have the 3-point shooting to punish people for doubling - the Raptors were doubling anybody within 15 feet of the basket.

Already set to be a nice off the bench center. A temporary starting center or starting center for top contending team.

Not an above avg rebounder yet to be considered anything more

He exceeded my expectations for a first game.  What disappointed me, though, was the rebounding, especially on the defensive end.  It seemed as if every time he established a good box out a Toronto wing would splash a contested jumper.  Hopefully he can give a more consistent effort on the glass next time, and maybe a couple plays can go to him in the second half.  Does anybody know if he's a good passer from the post?

The thing I will say in his defense is that the Raptors frontcourt is very physical (to the point where there should have been a lot more fouls called on them, in my opinion).  I'm interested to see how he does eased in vs less physical front courts as we go on.

For a first game it was a good one.

Let's just say that he didn't seem to be held back by athleticism issues when matched against Val. I've never cared much about how high you can jump or how fast you can run -- you either can play or you can't, and Faverani is clearly a player.

To me, his best case scenario is a player of the mold of Pekovic.

I think he's got a little bit more finesse to his game than Pek, but I agree--the guy's got enough game for the NBA.

i did not see vit in action, but from what everyone says he seems to be a decent player.

did he show an outside shot at all? or does he need to stay under the basket? that would make a difference in celtic front court combos.

would it be safe to say that so far he looks like a very nice back up center in the nba on a good team?

it cost the celtics nothing but money to get this guy. good move by ainge.
