And Jeff Green Is not one of them. Take one moment to guess who they are. Real proven NBA starters that you can count on each and every night.  In my opinion it's Wallace, Rondo, And Sullinger. Sully makes it for me based on him being such a stud at Ohio State, he's a double double machine if he can stay healthy.   Kelly O could be one, we shall see, And I pray Jeff will be who he can be but he doesn't have "It".

I'd vote for just Rondo and Wallace at this point.  I think Sullinger will be included once he gets in shape and has a larger body (pun not intended) of work under his belt.

Agreed. Although I think Bradley should be included, even though he probably isn't a starter on a championship team he can flat out change the game without having the ball.

Also is anyone still wishing we traded Green for Josh Smith or something? This guy is not consistent enough for a rebuilding team, especially for a 27yo. Loving Wallace too.

have to admit that it's hard to tolerate green's inconsistency
after whatching Wallace's play

We have already clearly seen from last season that Green excels when he is playing major minutes in a starting role.

His 'let the game time to me' style of offense just doesn't suit the role of a limited-minutes-off-the-bench type player.

Last season Green's scoring numbers were exceptional in games during which he started and played 30+ minutes.  Games in which he playd <30 minutes off the bench his production was unspectacular.

Green is also one of the few players on this team who doesn't really NEED to prove himself in preseason.  Most of the guys on this team are either very young and/or inexperienced (Sully, Olynyk, Bradley,  Brooks, Faverani, etc) or are good veterans coming off very poor seasons (Wallace, Hump, etc).

With Rondo out Green is basically the only guy who has already proven himself last season.  Preseason is usually a time for coaches to analyse the new additions and young talent of a team, so I don't think we will see much of Green until the regular season starts and he is starting with significant minutes.  I would not personally judge him based on his preseason showing.

As for 'real' NBA players, Jordan Crawford and Marshon Brooks have booth been pleasant surprises in the preseason so far.  Crawford has handled the Combo-guard role very well and shot super efficient so far, while Brooks is actually leading the team in Pts+Reb+Ass Per 36 minutes so far in the preseason.

Olynyk and Sullinger have both been pretty solid, while Wallace has been fantastic.  Bradley has been pretty solid and is hitting his three point shots again.

I think this team is going to be a pretty bad one record wise, but I think a lot of players on this team are going to surprise us regardless.

Of course, by being on the roster, they are all NBA players.
But as to good NBA players? Bass has started on some decent teams, but yeah, he's limited.
Green's already accomplished more than Sully (yes, because he's older), and I expect Fav and even Pressey to show they belong once they get the chance. I still haven't given up on Bradley except for when his coach forces him into a PG role.

Rondo and KO are the only two I'm projecting to retire with perennial-All-Star careers, but that's obviously still a big projection for Olynyk at this point.

Someone thinks that Sullinger, who looks god-awful and has never played a full NBA season is a "proven NBA starter", and Green, who started 200+ games over 3.5 seasons in OKC and played 35 minutes a night isn't. I understand tinted glasses, but that's taking it to a new level. And it's hilarious.

Also, Ohio State is not the NBA. Does Adam Morrison make it too? He started pretty much every game for Gonzaga and was a such a stud.

I have to agree with OP,  maybe only TWO  :'(.   Serious talented starters.

Anybody who makes a NBA team is better than us mere  mortals fans .   But that's not saying much , if you want to seriously compete for a title.

IMO this club is just a turbo powered D league team .

I actually feel sorry for Wallace  and Rondo.

Sully and KO. Have potential to be solid starters , and  others , like El Hombre , Hump and AB are fun to watch .

Celtics have sank like a brick to the bottom .

Strap in for the  crash landing   2013 is sure to be ugly.

Rondo and Wallace are the only starter-caliber players on the team right now.

Neither of them is in the long term plans for the team, either, in my opinion.

Gotta love a thread claiming that players in their 20s who have started many games (even on playoff teams) aren't "real" nba players.

We have several guys capable of being rotation players on an NBA team.  Even discounting Rondo because he's injured, we've got Wallace, Humphries, Bradley, Lee, Bass, Green, and Bogans.  All of those guys have started on pretty good teams, and Sully has shown that he's got NBA talent.

The problems we have are that 1) our roster doesn't fit together at all, and 2) we lack high-end talent.  Rondo is the only starter who is star quality, and of course he'll be missing a chunk of the season.

The problem is we lack high-end talent.

That pretty much sums up the sinking boat the Celtics are adrift on.

I rankled at that a bit, too, but in context it's clear the OP meant "NBA starters."
