Philadelphia 76'ers coach Brett Brown has said Nerlens Noel may miss the entire season. Said his recovery is going slowly than expected. Hate to hear this for him but better be safe than sorry. Make sure he is 110% healthy. I always did said he is a risk and think he will have an injury plague career..hope im wrong.

exactly. If it weren't for our goal to show that Rondo is healthy so that we can trade him, he would be out the whole season too.

This makes sense.

Get him healthy and fresh next year. All while sucking some more to land Wiggins or Parker or whoever.

I though Noel's recovery is on schedule like, a couple months ago...?

Dr. James Andrews, who performed the surgery, told ESPN in June that Noel was ahead of schedule.

"We're really happy with his progress," Andrews said at the time. "He's several weeks ahead of schedule on his rehab. He's improving on a weekly basis. He has a completely stable knee."

The Sixers are in no rush to get him on the court. Though Noel is ahead of schedule in his weight-room workouts, Wilk doubts he will be ready to play before December.

"Right now, the stuff we are doing is not necessarily on the court," Wilk said. "He's got to get used to the court, cutting on the court. Used to playing defense one-on-one. Things of that nature.

"So it's probably going to get pushed a little further back, even though he looks like he's ready."

In 5-10 years, Philly vs Boston might be a legitimate rivalry.

Philly is clearly tanking. At least other teams are doing smart things (trading expensive players for cap space/draft picks, etc.). Philly is all-in for Wiggins. Granted, this doesn't say Noel is definitely out for the year, but the fact that the team is saying the opposite of the surgeon tells you what you need to know. Hope Stern punishes them by fixing the draft against them.

Not buying this at all. Why would the Sixers do this? It makes little sense. Noel isn't capable of making a difference in terms of wins and losses. On the other hand, having him play would allow him to further develop, work on his non-existent offensive game, and having him deal with the physicality of the NBA game.

Would you say Kelly Olynyk isn't capable of making a difference?  What about some of the rookies last year like Harrison Barnes, Jonas, Tyler Zeller, Anthony Davis?

In a manner of speaking it doesn't even matter. If he's healthy within a reasonable period of time he should play.  He was fully expected to be fully healthy. He's on track or ahead of schedule.  Now it's the whole year.

Olynyk? No, not really. We're 1-6, so maybe we'd be winless without him. I don't think any of the players you mentioned could make a difference except for Davis. But to play along...let's assume Noel and the 10.5 ppg & 9.5 rpg he averaged in college (before his knee injury) translates to the same numbers in the NBA, how much of a difference will he make? 3 wins? 5 wins? So you're willing t0 stunt a player's development in order to have the worst record instead of the 3rd worst? In a draft system, that unlike other leagues, has no certainty of getting the top pick with the worst record.
