This is a 25 win team at best. Crawford runniing the point is awful. No rim protector . This Is going to be a brutal season.

Who cares??  It will be one bad year and then a top five pick and some trades and right back in the playoffs.  Stevens knew full well what he signed on for.

We have serious ping pong balls in our future.....long as DA keeps this hodge podge of bench players together ......I think unless Rondo comes back

This is going to be the way things go down this season., just need to suck it up and enjoy watching the rookies and wait for the draft.

The wins ....will really be sweet

unless ainge can move a pf from our stack and draft pick(s) for a good quality starting sg then this is going to be a long long long season

rondo is out, bradley is looking more and more like a first guard off bench sort of guy
crawford in a pinch, brooks stinks, lee underachieving most of preseason and playoffs last year was pretty much benched

i know rondo is going to make bradley and most everyone on team look better but MAN we have holes in this team
rondo, bradley, sully, green/wallace, fav for starters would be better than what we've seen but unless stevens puts in a better offense or gets the fast break going we are in for a long season, we can't win many games at all with stagnant offense and jump shots

If they continue to play without a PG and start Sully as a 5, than yes, they will be worse than most of us expected.

No one is playing to their strengths because of the roster imbalance and line-ups at the moment.  Unless you count shot hunters like Crawford.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

trading away two hall of famers will tend to leave a team with some holes.

Yep, which is why it's laughable that some think the team will actually fare better this season than last year.

Plus, a full season of healthy Rondo

I admit I thought we would be further along than where we are now.  The real problem as everyone knows, is we have no seriously talented guards beyond Rondo, and no one to protect the rim.  If DA doesn't make a deal to fill those holes I am adjusting my win total expectations down to about 20.  We may be even lucky to get 20 if Rondo is out until the all star break.

Hard to adjust your expectations for the team after being good for so long.  I am hoping that watching the young guys develop will make up for it a bit.

I mean, our defense revolved around KG (gone), and our offense ranged from 17th - 24th in the league with Rondo Pluse 2-3 hall of famers; now just rondo is left.

So tell me, a defense first team that loses the reason they were effective plus an objectively below average offense that loses 2 HOFers, really, what else is there to expect?

well there is a difference between foreseeing winning 25-30 games and being competitive versus - winning 15-18 games and most nights being just outclassed.  that is the difference of expectations that I probably had.  The uphill road is just steeper than I thought it was.

obviously it is pre-season and we are going to get better.  but our overall talent level is just too low to be competitive night in and night out.  maybe that will change when RR comes back, I don't know.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I think the hardest thing for many optimistic fans is accepting that for guys like Avery, Green and Rondo to oook great-they need great players around them.
Avery and Green don't have 3 All stars to hide behind or give them spacing and perfect understanding of every set play. The pressure on these guys to do it themselves is something they won't have experienced before.

I think Rondo is going to suffer tremendously if his shot hasn't drastically improved.
Replacing KG, Pierce & Ray/Rondo with Crawford, Humphries, Okynyk, Avery and Green/Wallace is going to be a hard learning curve for many of these guys-particularly Avery, Green and Rondo.

Sully seems to be coping, so does Olynyk. This is a great sign. Our veterans however I'm not so sure about.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Yeah that's what's funny about all the "Tank vs No Tank" debates.   The celtics already tanked by trading Pierce and KG.  This team is garbage.  But it was the best move to make.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
The sad part is outside of Rondo and maybe Sullinger there isn't much trade value in our guys.

Agree, we are tanking by roster.   How many quality starters do we have on the team without Rondo?   Therein lies your answer most all of our guys are quality bench guys but no alpha stud starters only serviceble guys.
