I just don't understand why coach Steven's isn't starting a big ? Start either KO or Fav and lets see what they can do ! I understand it is preseason but now is when we should be trying them out.

Sully keeps picking up fouls because he has to play center and has to cover for all Bass and Crawford's defensive mistakes.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

What constitutes a real big?
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Start Sully and Fav, KO first man off the bench.

I think both Who and timobusa have it right on the nose.
Lets see what we have in Fav.  It is pre-season anyway, why not?

Is there any way that the language barrier limits the plays or sets that we can play with Vitor?  I hope not, but maybe that is an explanation.  (grasping at straws)

PF: Sully
 C: Faverani

Let me add to this:

PG: Rondo/Pressey/Crawfish
SG: Green/Bradley/Brooks/Bogans
SF: KO/Wallace/Lee/Babb
PF: Sully/Humphries
C: Fav/Free Agent - ? (Colton Iverson?)
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

I would like to see Sullinger and Humphries starting with Olynyk and Fav backing them up. I like what I've seen from Humphries and think his athleticism could make up for his lack of height. This would allow Sullinger to slide to his more natural 4 spot. I would prefer to keep Olynyk at the 4, which I also see at his natural spot until he strengthens up over the next couple of years. This means that Bass is the odd man out. However, that is the main problem that exists. I feel he's the worst big we have, at least for the current makeup of our team, and the minutes he takes are minutes that will be better served going to someone else.

Sullinger has done absolutely nothing that warrants him starting. He's shot horribly, he insist of taking three pointers, which he's not very good in scoring, and outside of some charges taken, he's been a non-factor defensively.

I'd much rather see Olynyk and Faverani start, but that's probably not going to happen.

Yeah, after a strong start to the preseason, Sully looks like...well, someone who hasn't been able to practice or stay in shape for 6 months.  Particularly offensively.

Here's the thing though...he has been our best defensive big this preseason.  And yes, that is absolutely not a compliment to him, it is a knock on the defense of everyone else.  He has been the only one who consistently closes out penetration, and the only one I have seen successfully challenge shots (and that was rare for him, because he is not a leaper, obviously).

Put simply, the team is better when he is on the floor than when he isn't.

But he is a long way away from being where he needs to be.  I think he has tired legs right now, after so many games in so few nights, when he was grossly out of shape to begin with.  That particularly effects him on offense, and with his outside shot.

I disagree. Olynyk and Faverani are challenging shots just fine, and are just as good, if not better in post-up situation. So yeah, perhaps Sullinger has a slight edge in help defense over the two rookies coming from zone-defense leagues at his point, but by the time he gets in shape, Olynyk and Faverani may be ahead of him defensively, too.

He's done nothing to warrant starting in the preseason, but his play before his back injury last season was worthy of a starting spot. And you'd have to wonder whether he "insists" on shooting threes or if he's been told by his coach to launch them.

New coach same old celtics. Too many jump shots, no post play, no legit big man getting minutes.

Yes, they could pass him.  But so far, he has been the only one who has been even passable defensively.  Which is sad, because he has not been great.

Sullinger showed enough potential last year that the C's are going to let him play himself into shape. He clearly is out of shape after his back surgery, nothing to do but continue to develop him and get him back to where he needs to be.
