We've all been guilty of this. Wallace isn't tha only one. Not jumping on tha OP but does this really deserve its' own thread because Wallace is an athlete who currently plays for tha Celtics and is a Pats/Sox fan? Would it matter much if he was still a Net or Bobcat?

I'm a die hard Celtics and Texans fan but I've changed tha channel a few times on both teams. No one wants to see a team they love get ran through or blown out but it happens. It doesn't make them any less loyal or supportive, it's just painful to see and some would rather not see.

I agree with others here that it's a non issue.
Loyalty Is Royalty

Why would you think Pierce wouldn't turn off the games too? You're creating reasons to dislike Wallace when it comes to this.
don't worry its rondo's fault  8)

So Wallace is actually a Pats/Sox fan?

Just one more reason not to like him.  I hate those two teams.

At least you didn't turn it off to play xbox because they were losing.

Or claim you idolize Brady meet him before the New Orleans game then check out with 2 minutes left in the game. That would be embarrasing especially since all of New england would hear about it.

I really dont know why everyone finds this so strange. I was embarrased for the Pats fan base. We would DESTROY the Miami Heat fan base if they did this.

Oh wait, we did when they left game 6 of the NBA finals. Oh and The heat destroyed their own fan base as well. How is what I'm saying so controversial?

complete non-issue.

I've had to leave a couple of C's games early in order to catch a 10:35 train in Back Bay to Providence.  When the next one is at 12:05, with an hour's ride on the train PLUS the time left to drive home AND an alarm for 5:15 to get up for work the next day -- I still hate to do it but I blame the NBA for making a game that's supposed to start at 7:30 run until after 10 rather than me not wanting to be there for the end (which is what would do if at all possible).

a bit off-topic from Wallace but opened the door about why some people don't catch the end of games

Completely apples and oranges.

Was wallace catching the commuter rail back to boston or something?

1. Because you making a strange judgment to fetish how Paul Pierce would never not watch to the end. Which is something you cannot know and are just projecting onto Paul.

2. Because most of us have been there, I know I muted the TV during the C's last game last season and missed the start of the huge run to cut into the Knicks 20+ point lead because I started doing other things as I was so frustrated about how the game was going. I personally wouldn't leave a playoff game early I'm attending in person, but that's just me drawing the distinction between regular season and playoffs.

Every fan has a different way of dealing with losses and frustration, attempting to call out Wallace for his reaction is just another way of decrying "real fans" "bandwagoners", etc. All stuff that I hate on this board and elsewhere.

Ha...it was a long weekend between working all weekend (ahead of the 10/15 tax deadline) and trying to catch up with a college buddy who was in town on Sat night (you know how those meet ups end up going)  By the time Sunday night rolled around, I was gased plus I knew I had a long day ahead on Monday.  Feel asleep right on my couch.

I burned the midnight oil for these games during the 2000s when I was in my twenties.  The body just doesn't do quite the same in your thirties.

I'd be shocked if there was any fan, anywhere, who had never shut off a game prematurely.  When your team is down 5 runs in the 6th, and has managed less than a handful of hits up until that point, I don't think it makes you a bad fan if you go do something less frustrating.

How many Sox fans shut off Game 3 of the 2004 ALCS early?  I know I did.

Not a huge deal but pretty bad that a supposed lifelong pats and red sox fan gave up on these teams on Sunday.

You get the feeling a guy like Pierce (also a fan of both teams) would never have shut them off. Maybe because he's been a part of some historic comebacks himself.

I don't know just rubs me the wrong way a little bit hearig about a guy you want to route for through thick and thin bailing on his teams. Especially when the guy is a professional athlete himself and you'd think would be more rational than another fan(atic)

I feel the complete opposite.
This is entertainment, after all, not a religious ceremony or something like that. There are no "rule" to follow as a fan. Different people like their entertainment in different ways. I have no problem with that.
Celtics fan for life.
