The comments by Gerald Wallace after the game.

Wallace should stand up and be a leader on this team, and not let the team think they can coast, even against the 76ers.

Sometimes a loss can be more important than a win...perhaps tonight is an example.

I wish Brad Stevens would play Humphries + Sullinger together. They are our two best high energy high effort big men. Choosing to play only one of them at a time and coupling them with a dodgy defender/rebounder in Olynyk or Bass is hurting this team.

This team needs those extra rebounds that Sully + Hump can bring to the table.

It's clear Humph and Wallace are taking the season seriously.  Jeff Green has someone to push him.

best thing I saw was a group out there that seemed cohesive:

Pressey
Lee
Wallace
Sully
KO

I thought these guys spaced the floor well, played good team D, and passed very well.

Interesting. I could see sticking Crawford in for Lee. I hope KO plays more with GW and JS over the next six games, as I think that will speed his development and his cohesion with that unit.

Throughout the preseason, it's just seemed that the score is closer(albeit we are still losing) when Sullinger is in and getting more minutes.  Gerald Wallace does seem to give us a far better impact than JG, but I'm nervous starting him over Jeff, as we saw Jeff's production was alot worse when coming off the pine last year.

TP.  I mentioned this in another thread.  They should start together.  Depending on matchups you can start Wallace at the 3 and Green at the 2 which would leave Bradley at the point.  However, I'm torn as I'd like to limit Bradley at the point.  I was thinking Crawford at PG, Bradley at SG, and Green at SF which would be fine if you facing a smaller team in the backcourt.

I also think Vitor is going to have to play backup C against certain teams, which would leave Bass and KO fighting for backup PF minutes.

It's nice to hear them speak that way. You learn more from losses than from victories, and this team will have the chance to learn a lot this season.

I don't know if it's lack of effort, chemistry, growing pains or lack of urgency. I'd say it's the latter, and I don't think it's a bad thing if you think about Coach Stevens "process" approach. They're learning together, coach included, so you can expect them to lose a lot. Danny is a genius, this team will be in the lottery while trying as hard as they can. I'm convinced they'll play their best basketball in March/April, as an irrefutable proof of the "we're not tanking" theory.

By the way, don't be like Sherrod, don't get fooled by the Tank Ninjas of Philadelphia. Once the Regular Season starts, they're going to enter Tank Commander mode. Celtics won't stand a chance against them for the worst record. Maybe Orlando...

Loved the Wallace post game.  They call that "veteran leadership."

Wondering if Mr. "Cool", aka Brad Stevens, has that contagious fire to inspire...

I had some unrealistic high expectations for KO after watching him play in the Summer League.  Expectations faded quickly after game 2 (vs NY).

They are up again after watching him play on game 3.  I saw more assertiveness on his decisions.  That's always a good sign. Mixed his game in/out. Got blocked, but he is a smart dude.  He'll adjust.

Also, I liked what PPressey is bringing to the table.

Its all a mute point because there was no chance in hell we would have gotten a franchise superstar player........  until the next one suits up in green, we'll suck....  DA did his best to fill in around 2 agings superstars...and it didn't work because Rondo got hurt...  that's all there is to it.....

Bass looks lost without Rondo.

Stevens is purposely playing different people together to whittle down to a starting lineup for Game 1....obviously.

I'm worried about not having a go-to guy or 2 at crunch time......

Well sure, I'm not surprised they are both coming into this season intent on making their presence known.  They both probably want to get as far away from this team as possible.  The best way to do that is to play hard, and play well.  Maybe some contender will come along and offer a pick and an expiring contract for each, if they prove to be useful.

I am disappointed with the collective effort level of this team so far.

I thought they might have a chance to come out of the gate and steal some wins early like Orlando did last year (8 wins first 20 games, only 12 wins in next 62 games) by catching teams off guard. Use their depth and intensity to outwork teams while opponents are still shaking off their early season rust. And avoid doing too much damage to their W-L record while Rondo is out.

But that doesn't look remotely like it is going to happen. This team is just as bad as most in dealing with the off-season rust and in struggling to find it's most effective lineups/rotations.
