I don't think Brooklyn deals us Humph, Crash, Brooks, Bogans and a slew of picks if we don't send Pierce and KG their way.

On a different note, Courtney Lee is AWFUL. Why did we sign this guy?

The sad thing is... everyone that we drafted were the same exact players we needed...

Imagine how much better KO/Fav would've become underneath the tutelage of Fav?

Sullinger/KO could've definitely excelled better in the PF over Bass any day... Fav could've given KG at least 10-15 minutes of breathing space...

Pressey could've been a great back up to Bradley or even took starting PG when Rondo was out... Who knows how we could've done in the Knicks with Pressey... Pressey might've had problems guarding Felton, but... at least he could play as a natural PG which lacked a main issue...

And Chris Babb could've replaced Lee who disappeared last year...

I think the past is over with. I'm ready to move on, and I'm excited to see how Stevens plays and experiments with.

Good luck to KG/Paul Pierce!

So tempted to go to the Celticsblog archive and dig up an article gushing about how amazing it was Danny had worked his magic wand to land Courtney Lee. Maybe the guy out there on the floor isn't the real Lee but an evil clone. Anyway, getting back on topic, I reckon the time for KG and Paul to note on had come, and we are kinda lucky to get some assets for them.

I wasn't looking for that whole package, just GW and Hump with the though of the Nets willing to use Hump's expiring deal to unload GW while picking up (in theory) better assets in Green, Lee and Bass.  Green would be seen by the Nets as a better player than GW with Lee and Bass adding solid depth to the roster.

just a thought I had when watching GW and Hump play the past 2 games and Green/Lee/Bass look like crap at the same time.  GW, Hump and Vitor would have provided some really solid frontcourt depth if added to PP, KG, Sully and KO.

Oh gotcha. It's hard to say. It sounds like Brooklyn was looking for "star" talent to compete with the likes of Miami, the Knicks, etc. Therefore, I am not quite sure that they would've had much use for the likes of Jeff Green, Courtney Lee and Brandon Bass.

Hence, though they are in the latter stages of their career, Pierce and KG still have alot of name value AND they won't be asked to do as much in Brooklyn.

I think alot if it has to do as much with selling tickets as it does competing for an NBA title, and Pierce/KG equate to more ticket sales than Lee, Bass or Green.

Sadly, I am afraid Danny Ainge is finding that out right now (lol.)

I don't get the point of conversations that completely ignore the salary cap. If you take away the salary cap, Miami steamrolls everyone as they sign all stars at every position to play with Lebron.

If we keep Pierce and KG, we still have an injured Rondo and probably are at best equal to the Nets this season.

And don't get too excited about Wallace as he will get injured and miss many games as he always does.

The selling tickets argument is very weak considering ticket sales had already slowed down despite the expensive payroll.
