Another excuse:
He's not used to all the attention he's getting from the defense.

I'd give him that excuse for maybe the first quarter of the season. Excited for him, though.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
Excuse:  there's nobody to get him the ball in good spots right now.
Agreed.
Not only does he need Rondo back, he needs Rondo back up to 100% before we determine his success. Or if #9 gets traded, he needs to gel with the new starting PG.

I think the chances of Jeff green being traded off this team are greater than that of Rondo being traded off this team

It also wouldn't surprise me much if the next time the C's are considered contenders that neither player is on the team.

He slashed some and hit some jumpers.   He needs that inside out game.

4 of 10 and -14. Failed his second test of the campaign, I'd say.

i think he is a good player but mentally he is not yet there in terms of leading a team or taking over a game consistently.

I think Rondo can help Green by giving him chances in transition and good spot up opportunities but there's only so much a point guard can do to elevate the play of a small forward.  He can't elevate him enough to all-stardom.  For Green to take a big leap, it's on him to be a better scorer WITH the ball against perimeter defenders.  If he's not capable of that, that's pertinent information.

What excuse does he need. He has been here what he has always been. Up and down, inconsistent and passive unless he has a major mismatch. He still isn't an even mediocre rebounder or shot creator. He has a nice outside shot and doesn't like playing in the post. At times his defense is very good, other horrible.

He is what he is. His Per minute and Per36 numbers have never varied.

Jeff Green is an okay second offensive option and great third offensive option with little to no leadership skills and a bad left hand that half the time will come to play defense hard and half not.

There's no need for an excuse for that. As Belichick says "he is what he is".

Spot on. Tp.
2021 Houston Rockets

SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

i agree.  "passive" describes him best. Also teams might be catching on that if you prevent him going to his right, you got a chance to stop him.

Jeff Green = Infuriating

Sure may he does not want to risk injury; but he is setting a bad example for the others.

Wallace = Hustle

That dunk was sick, though.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I agree with Nick.

For me it is also a matter of our high expectations. Using Tony Allen for an example, here is a guy we all really want to love. He shows us flashes of really good basketball in between adverse situations.

We as Celtic faithful want Jeff to do well because he is a Celtic. The window of opportunity is beginning to close on him. If he doesnt step up his game this year, it becomes evident he may never reach that potential level he was assigned a few years back.

If we thought of Jeff as a really talented bench player that would occaisionally give us a superman effort, but he wasnt regarded as one of our top 3 or 4 players then how would we feel?

The truth remains, "he is what he is".
He was assigned a lot of potential.

Green is not an alpha dog.   Sometimes he can bring down big game and rise above the pack though.

As soon as you stop expecting him to be a "star", the sooner you will be less frustrated by him.

Green is a good player capable of All-Star level nights but has limitations to his game and his mindset to be a consistent "star".
