He will never be a good rebounder.  Green doesn't like to bang, and doesn't have a nose for the ball.  He's been utterly pathetic so far, which isn't what a rebuilding team wants from a highly paid veteran.

Great for tanking, though.  We are tanking by roster.  The team will play hard but can we win night in and night out?

Interesting comment by Dave Cowens last nite during the game. I cant quote, but it was to the effect that while Jeff is an excellent player, he was hurting his game (and the team) by playing around on the perimeter with jump shots instead of taking the ball to the basket every chance he gets.

It was like "I hope you are listening Jeff" "live by the jumper, die by the jumper". Cowens went on to say Jeff could be a key player for the Celtics going forward. I hope he is.

I don't think it's an issue with his mentality or passivity, he's just not that good getting past wing defenders off the dribble.  He's an one-trick pony off the dribble and not blazingly quick either so wings can keep him away from the basket.  At that point, he's only got jumpers available to him.  Since he's been in a cold stretch, it hasn't looked pretty for him.

Preseason: "It's only the preseason!:

Regular season: "The season just started, wait a little bit."

All star break: "He is on a cold streak, wait for the playoffs"

End of season, missed the playoffs: [blame everyone but Green]

I'd say it's both.

By the same token, few if any of his critics here were able to figure out that the effects of open heart surgery and a year away from basketball might have an impact on his game last year.

Well, based on the comments in this thread, it's seems that regardless of whether or not Green ever gets it together, he'll always have someone there to make excuses for him.

Hopefully Ainge isn't one of those people.

I dunno...does Ainge seem like the type who can admit his mistakes?

I'm pretty sure blog rules forbid me from stating my true feelings on Ainge.

But you raise a good point.
