He's been killing it the last three games.

His averages:

22 points, 10.6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals

Look at those rebounds!!

I say he's a keeper.  If Rondo is still on the roster...make it work somehow.

Marcus Smart is currently projected by DraftExpress to go at #5 in the upcoming draft.  The Celtics are expected by  many analysts and pundits to be among the worst teams in the league this season, though not one of the very worst.

What if the Celtics are sitting at #5 in the draft and Marcus Smart is considered to be both a potential franchise talent and the clear-cut best player available?

Should the Celtics trade the pick?  Draft Smart and trade him later?  Try to convert Smart into a Wade-like shooting guard?  Or trade Rondo for additional assets (perhaps a pick later in the lottery plus other pieces) and move forward with Smart as the guy?
Danny would take Randle or Exum before he took smart in my opinion and if Embiid by some crazy reason were still on the board then it would be him.  Here is a Shocker if the celtics had the number one pick in the draft it would be JOEL EMBIID!!!!

If our pick comes down to Smart, I think he and Rondo can coexist at least short term. He is bigger then avery and stronger then avery so defending most SGs shouldn't be a problem. Looking at his stats I like that he only three times this season has he had less then 12 pts, two of those game where blow out wins. I like the consistency.

keep.  there are about seven in this draft i keep.

wiggins, randle, parker, smart, embid, exum, and gordon.

it's why i am so thrilled with the depth this year.

And don't forget vonleh , levine, Seldon, this draft is about as deep as i have ever seen if and only if all of these guys come out.

Not sure how many connections Bill Simmons has but he keeps hinting that Embiid and Parker are leaning towards staying in school....

2 things i dislike about Smart.

1) Turnovers. Taking three point shots with a hand in his face with 25 sec left in the time clock

2) When you see him drive to the basket , alot of times he looks like he will fall forward. Definitely not the athlete say Dwade is. Smart is like a train, and in the nba, it could unfavorably result in fouls (offensive)

If we are going to resign Bradley I see no point in drafting Smart. It would be Exum...And if we drafted Exum, Rondo would surely be on the way out.

I say KEEP as well.  I think he can be a serious mismatch, physically speaking.  He is a 6'4" 225 MACHINE!

He can play the 1, 2, and the 3 (in an emergency, because of his strength).

He's fiery and an intense competitor.

He can't shoot well but can create for himself and others.

Here's the latest from DraftExpress...it came out yesterday.

KEEP HIM!

definitely keep...from the games I watched, the things I don't like about him is turnovers, the flopping and him losing his composure. but I think 2/3 of that could be fixed (turnovers and controlling his emotions)

He is 6'4" and 225 lb. That is a big guard. He is competitive and tries very hard. If you guys are arguing "Wiggins/Parker had one bad game, but they're 18 and won't reach their full potential until 10 years later". Well, the same could be said about Smarts...

I want a guy who WANTS to win, night in and night out.

Because he's reading Loose Cannon's posts.  ;D

Anyway, I like Marcus Smart. I'd love to see the C's draft him and bring him along slowly as the first guard off the bench for a year or so.

I rather buy a 2nd and draft Deandre Kane who is a similar player. Older with less upside but more polished and nba ready
