I don't know, you tell me.
I asked first. If it's not a smart idea, what's the explanation for Stevens telling Sully/KO to shoot open threes? I'd say that he either thinks that they are there already (in terms of skills), or can get there with time. Surely the coach has at least the same understanding of the game of basketball as you or I do, and doesn't think that a sub-30% shooter should be hurling those shots up if that's their ceiling.

KO is a rookie, and Sully is basically still half a rookie. These aren't players who have been in the league for five years.
So the only explanation is that it's a good idea because, well, Stevens cannot be stupid?

How about the obvious fact that it's a bad decision, much like starting Bradley at PG for a good part of the season? Or did that not happen as well?

Fair enough. I still like the idea of 'Toine shushing anyone who thinks not taking the open three is a good idea.

I definitely agree...as for the explanation, I'm just a tad sensitive when he gets brought up around here - it isn't usually to talk about how great he was.
The problem is he wasn't all that great. You may like to pretend he was only shooting threes because Obie told him so, but he pretty much flat-out said he isn't going to change this when the new regime under Doc was clearly planning to cut his three-point galore down. Which ultimately lead to his shipping out of town. Oh, and the four-point shot quote didn't help, either.

As for the 2pt vs 3pt shot comparison... perhaps this was an indication that, well, perhaps he shouldn't shoot all that much? Or hang around the offensive glass a bit (given that he was a pretty adept rebounder).

I get that Walker is a convenient punching bag, and that some of those Celtics teams weren't half-bad. But he ultimately brought all of this on himself.

Who said it was a good idea? The word was "smart". Stay on target.

Available evidence suggests that the three-point shooting prowess of these young players could go either way. Neither player is comfortably league-average over a large sample, but at the same time neither of them is unspeakably atrocious, and both of them are young.

Nothing obvious or factual about that.

Bradley has had an offseason to grow, and he's still young. The prospect of him turning into a halfway decent PG (not even a good one) is something worth pursuing. If at any time AB can run the offense without laying an egg, that gives a lot of potential match-up advantages to this team, in terms of lineups (we can play big, and have strong defense).

Maybe it never happens, but it would be a boon to the team if it did. Stevens clearly has the mandate to experiment.

Brad is going to try every possible combination of players just for the heck of it, wouldn't he...

I would try every combo too, except for Bass/Sully! I would put in Brooks with Bogans, Pressey, Hump, and Vitor b4 I would put Sully and Bass together!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

It was good to see them get the start together tonight.  I'm really hoping coach Brad sticks with our two talented youngsters starting in the front court.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I agree. On the flipside it could kill Bass and Humprhies trade values

If danny has short term plans to keep Bass on the team, than it doesn't matter anyways.

In related news, did anyone see after the game the broadcast about the league warning Sullinger about flopping against Dwight Howard the other night? From what I saw, they both had a hold of each others jerseys, and Howard shoved him at the end of the play. If that's going to be called a flop, then the reffing is a hell of a lot worse than I thought before.

Speaking of flops, did Zaza Pachulia ever get fined for the 5 or 6 flops in the game we had against Milwaukee??

This is actually the year where he gets a sort of a "free pass" to do this. Might as well.
2019 CStrong Historical Draft 2000s OKC Thunder.
PG: Jrue Holiday / Isaiah Thomas / Larry Hughes
SG: Paul George / Aaron McKie / Bradley Beal
SF: Paul Pierce / Tayshaun Prince / Brian Scalabrine

Humphries is an expiring, I doubt his value would have undulated much anyway. Bass on the other hand....

Actually got to see that Houston game. Sully fell like he'd been shot. Would have made a soccer forward proud the way he simulated that Howard foul. Anyway, the main reason I'm posting here is I finally got to see Olynyk in action in the flesh. Aside from being shoved about in the paint (esp, by howard) a little too much for his height and his shot not quite falling I liked what I saw. He set good screens, moved well up and down the court and generally only took what seemed to me to be good shots. If they start going and  he is a genuine offensive option.
