Sullinger and Olynyk duo

One duo I can forever live without, KO and Hump together. That is the worst grouping I have seen from Coach. I could have guessed it wasn't going to be good w/o tape, why he needed to see it I don't know. Which one can play (defend) center? Neither! That combo was terrible and pretty much cost us the game, no rebounding and neither are rim protectors... sure Hump use to be a rebounding animal but paired with KO, we just got abused! I thought KO was doing very well on D tonight, UNTIL he was paired with Hump! We got destroyed and Coach kept them together. I think KO and Hump both need Sully or Fav with them to be effective. Why are we forcing Hump to be the center when Sully and Vitor are doing a better job of it? Hump doesn't have the strength to defend the 5. Every game it doesn't fail, our interior D is pure garbage when Hump mans the middle... he can't be starting C, please coach??? I'm not saying he can't start or that he shouldn't, I'm saying it can not be with KO. Actually, let me be real, I would like KO and Sully to start and 2nd starting option is Sully and Vitor. I really feel Hump is the guy to lead the second group, we could use the energy off the bench because I think Wallace may start with JG but either way, Hump needs to come off the bench. I'm just upset by the abuse we have taken inside when Hump is the C.

these guys were good again when on the court together on the 4th. We were a plus team.

Olynyk looking more comfortable out there. Man can he move well for a 7 ft guy. Sullinger was good underneath the basket

There were a few plays that were tic tac toe passing plays. High iq passing/old school passing. 

+ wallace, lee and PRessey was an interesting lineup out there.

Those two passes from Oly to Sully tonight were fantastic. Poetry in motion

Excellent game by both on both ends.

The only change i would like to see is for stevens to instruct these guys to limit taking 3 point shots (even wide open ones). Olynyk is like 1 and 15 now for the year , has had several open looks, but can't make it.  Sullinger a little better but is so much more effective near the post.  Take 1 and if you make it, take another. But if you miss 2, just resort to playing your game. I loved how KG rarely took the three bc he knew the chances of getting them in were slim and instead took one or two dribbles and nailed the 18 footers.

I'm glad this thread got bumped tbh. Now we have actually seen them in proper games we can talk about how we think they're going.

Defense and protecting the rim is where they lack both are smart though and can compensate for their lack of athletic ability to some degree.  Both seem foul prone but not like they are going to get respect from refs being rooks essentially.

I have to think those threes are shots they hit in practice regularly so the coaching staff is encouraging them to take them. Statistically the three point shot is a better shot attempt than the 16-22 foot two point shot that both have shown(in college and probably practices) that they can make at a good enough clip. Knowing what we know about how this coaching staff love advanced statistics, gotta think they have no problem with this.

So, both are 23 or less in age. Given this is a lost season, my guess is the coaching staff is telling them to take those shots rather than the 18-20 foot shots they know they can make because mathematically its a better shot selection. Develop the shot now when they are young and it doesn't matter if they miss. It will pay dividends in later years.

Also those points haven't been accurate except for shot blocking.  Jumping is not all it takes to be athletic. The rebounding is just fine. Sullinger and Olynyk are now combined 2 for 15 from three. If these are indeed wide open shots as you claim, and they're making them at this clip -- they have no business stretching the floor all the way to the three-point line.

So it's either poor coaching or poor shot selection, but it's certainly not good basketball.
