Of course Doc is going to say that he wanted Jordan.  He has to coach him, and he needs DJ to buy in to the Chandler role on that team.

I, along with many NBA observers, feel that the Clippers would have been better positioned to win a title the next two years with KG over Jordan.  Doc has to coach the team with Jordan, and not KG, so he has to convince Jordan that he's Doc's guy.

Exactly. From a Celtics fan standpoint, I personally wish that deal went through. I think dealing KG for a young, athletic center would've been great, plus we still would've gotten a draft pick and I believe Butler's expiring.

Furthermore, we may have been able to keep Pierce or possibly deal him in a separate trade.

From a practical standpoint, it just seems like in the Brooklyn deal we got a big buffet of question marks. Humph and Wallace may pan out great, they may not.

The draft picks from Brooklyn may be end up being very valuable, they may not.

I don't think there was ever any realistic expectation that we'd keep one and not the other (KG and Pierce).

I think (and I have NO way of knowing this) that if the Celtics and/or Clippers didn't puts around and haggle over draft picks or whatever it was and bring more attention onto it, that Celts could've sent Doc and KG to Clippers (either together or in separate deals) and the league wouldn't have said anything.

Like if they swapped Doc for a draft pick and then KG for Jordan and another draft pick without letting it drag, Stern wouldn't have said anything.

Sure, but I think that Pierce gets dealt shortly thereafter.

Depending on the Clips deal it's possible that we'd have gone with a lineup of something like Jordan/Sully/Green/PP/Rondo.

Doc is silently still mad at simmons, ainge and wyc.

In the end doc you "quit" on the team.  Just accept it.

I hope the "quitter" chant goes on fire when he visits

I wish it would too but its wishful thinking. You have a lot of posters here who like Doc way more than Danny and despite items like Doc playing Telfair over Rajon, and that he didn't seem to get that McGrady was great while in Orlando, and he wouldn't play Perk and Al together initially....many fans liked doc. I doubt he will get hammered when he comes to town.

I don't get the Doc bashing.

It doesn't have to necessarily be "bashing" when you note that the guy is making ridiculously hyperbolic statements.

For instance, saying that DeAndre Jordan is one of only five (or fewer) defenders in the NBA who can take over a game...  that's just silly.

Absolutely - Dwight Howard, Kevin Garnett, Avery Bradley, Tyson Chandler, Tony Allen.  Whoops, there's 5 guys who are already better defensively than DeAndre Jordan!

I think, but I am willing to stand corrected, that he said big men
but I agree with your point I don't rate DJ that highly

So I would have KG, Dwight, Chandler, Noah and Hibbert above him

Don't forget dpoy marc gasol

This is just Doc praying that a little massaging of Jordans ego may help him out.

He just isn't really good tbough. Unless he really transforms his game I just see a lot of Doc yellig at Jordan this season. Kinda in the big baby mold

This is just PR and Doc trying to motivate his own player.

It's nonsense, though.

Right.  Well, it is basically him saying what he HAS to say.  He can't say that he wanted to make that trade.  It would potentially alienate an important part of his team.

Doc has always been good at talking like a politician.

He goes a little over board sometimes though like in this case.

I can just see everyone including Jordan kinda in their head rolling their eyes a little.

Not to mention I'm sure Doc didn't want to trade anyone to get KG. Wouldnt anyone rather get KG and keep everyone? Wasn't bledsoe rumored to be someone doc didn't want to part with? Pretty much whoever was in these rumors Doc was going to say basically the same thing
