Guys, it's over and he's gone. Let's try to move on. But if you hate him then think of this, he's working for the Clippers. The CLIPPERS! And the owner of that "team" is Donald Sterling. Doc will get what's coming to him before this is all said and done.

As for what he said, I don't agree with him. But I understand why he said it.
Peace through Tyranny

We may not have even won in 2008 with another coach.  KG may have refused to come here if there was another coach.  All those free agents that helped us may not have come if we had another coach in place.

Players obviously want to play for Doc.  Just look at how the Clippers immediately became remodeled with quality fee agents as soon as Doc took over.

Lol you mean Ray b/c by then what had Doc done to make ppl wanna play for him?
Only a coach of the year... whenever Doc has had a good team, talented free agents flock.

Yea but who has flocked to him exactly? KG only came b/c of Ray, any good players after came b/c of the big 3. Now you might know more about players b4 and I'd love to hear them. I'll give him Jet and Lee but Jet woulda went to Mia had they offered he said.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Rasheed, Shaq, Jermaine Oneal, James Posey, etc.  And in Clipperland players like Reddick and Dudley.

according to espn, rivers also did his best to block jordan coming back for KG. we already know he did the same for bledsoe. so...ok. this is just annoying. not that i wanted either guy...but still. doc apparently wanted his cake, wanted to eat his cake, and then spit up the leftovers in our face. i hope the clippers...do what the clippers do, and doc is left with an underachieving bunch.

no one brings Doc Malpractice up until he opens his mouth and disses the Celtics.

I will continue to bring it up when he slights the Celtics.

By the way props to whoever coined the nick 'Doc Malpractice'

TP

Because he totally dissed the Celtics.  Except he didn't.  Oh my goodness, he said the Clippers could be the best team he's ever coached - that's totally like saying "LOL THE CELTICS SUCKED, FOOLED YOU GUYS ALL ALONG."
;D

Hopefully everyone gets sarcasm.

what folks need to understand is that to some (definitely not me) Rivers was elevated to legendary status in Boston. I think it was Indeed Proceed that posted in this thread that only Tommy and Red surpass Rivers in longevity as Boston HC. I never bought into the lovefest for Rivers so I will seize every opportunity to show that the guy is not worthy of the legendary status in Boston.

Neither Red nor Tommy bolted from the Cs and neither ever talked badly about the organization. Rivers is showing that he does not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as either of those two in Celtic lore.

Doc is just running his mouth to:

a. Boost the Clippers confidence
b. Promote himself and get some media attention, which is good for his organization. As the best (or one of the best) paid coach in the League, he owes them some retribution in everyway he can.

Not bothered, although reading those silly things Doc is telling the media hurts my eyes. He could say all those things without dissing the Cs, but IMO he'll get more press if he gives the media a little drama. In today's world of sports, that's part of a professional's job.

I'm not offended by Doc, and I still think he's a good guy and father, and an above-average coach. Of course his rotations drove me mad, but he did a great job with the Cs. He wasn't perfect, but only Red Auerbach was close to perfection anyway. Hopefully we got our own new "Red" Stevens to build our next Dynasty.

I hope the Clippers get to the Finals this season, and they lose to the Celtics, or the Nets if the Cs can't get there. Then, an implosion Clippers-style, and a losing season to give the Cs a great first round pick in 2015.

In ten years, nobody will remember those stupid declarations, and we'll have great memories of Doc because of #17 (and hopefully our lottery 2015 pick from the LA Clippers). Right now he isn't a Celtics, but he may be considered a Celtic when he retires, and moreso if their pick is in the lottery  ;)

Haha Doc is now saying he didn't want to trade Deandre Jordan, for KG. It's funny he always tried to keep the Celtics grounded and is now trying to boost the Clippers egos. Maybe it's an old vs young thing. Here's the link to the article.

Doc is just being in his salesman role right now. Especially with the comment that he didn't want the KG/Deandre deal to go through. He earlier said that he hated that Kg couldn't be included in the deal.

Doc's talking out of both sides of his mouth because he's trying to build Deandre up and make the Clippers and their fans feel pumped. I get it, I just see it for what it is.

He is definitely trying to hype up Deandre.  Some of Doc's quotes were way over the top.  Stuff like Jordan dominates on defense like only a handful of players can; that Jordan is the defensive captain, etc.

I really don't think Jordan is very good and I'm glad the Celts didn't trade for him.

According to ESPN, Doc said exactly the following:

Quote
"I couldn't get involved in that whole thing," Rivers said.

No where is there anything said about Doc trying to block anything.  Had he actually interfered, that would be something to get on him about including probably fines.

Where exactly are you getting that Doc tried to block the trade (am I missing something).
