His shot still needs work, but once he gets a better technical free flowing form on it. I can see the mid range jumper being more and more prominent, and hopefully... Rondo may feel comfortable shooting 3s!

I'd love Rondo to have that mid-range jumper down. I'd also love for him to improve his free throw %.

I don't care about his shot. He can shoot like he did last season for the rest of his career, and he'll be fine. He'll be decidedly less fine if he shoots free throws the way he has so far.

For the record, the one shot on this video looked horrible: if he's planning to go with this slow and deliberate release in games, he's in for a world of trouble.

Rondo always looked buff...he is sort of like Ray Allen. Rondo takes care of his body very well with workouts and a clean diet.

Rondo's mid-range shooting percentage was top 12 in the league last year.  For him to be a more efficient, he needs to shore things up with the short shots and the threeball.

I'm not saying his mid-range shot is bad. It's night and day compared to how he used to shoot. I believe his mid-range is great where it is, and I would like to see him work on his 3. But I believe his FT% is really what needs to be improved over anything.

The main defect in Rondo's shooting from in my opinion is that his release point is way too low.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I heard Rondo put on 15 lbs of muscle this offseason, and he's in the best shape of his life, and he knows it weird but his knee actually feels stronger than it did before the tear.

Putting on extra weight after a lower body injury doesn't strike me as a smart idea, but then again, maybe it's just me.

Rondo's going on 28 and still working on his shot. Just like the Celtic future. A work in progress. This Team needs to clean out the attic and get a new Management Team.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I for one never thought that Rondo is a bad shooter and it's more of a confidence issue rather than just not being able to make shots.

I've seen him and he's not the greatest of shooters but I think he's alright, problem is, I don't think he thinks he can shoot.

I read IP's post as being in "cliche'-speak".  We hear these exact same things from seemingly every player in the league, every pre-season.

There's a blog that covers all of these hilarious offseason quotes:  http://allball.blogs.nba.com/category/musclewatch/

Musclewatch!  All the players who have gained 15-30 pounds of muscle.  Lol.  I like HOllinger's tweet that he ate 15 pounds of mussels.

Yeah. Nor can you trust what a player says when returning from surgery.

I remember Chris Webber talking about how great he was going to be coming back from his microfracture surgery. Then once he started playing it looked like he had a concrete block chained to his leg.

I'm hopeful because I believe Rondo has been fully committed to his rehab, but I am reserving any judgment until he starts playing again.
