This has been hashed and rehashed the entire summer, but I think Doc just wants to put this all behind him. I have no ill will because I'm excited to see what Brad is capable of doing with this team.

Quote
"The truth was this: I really didn't want to go through a rebuild. I've been through three – when I first got to Orlando, and then when Grant Hill went down again. And I had been through one in Boston. It's easy to say, 'Just do it,' but for a coach, it's brutal. Showing up, getting your ass kicked, it's brutal."

Quote
"It takes a lot out of you. At the end of the year, when we lost, I had full intentions of doing it. The more I kept thinking about it, I knew it wasn't in me again. At least not there again.

Quote
"But when the deal first fell apart, I told [Celtics president of basketball operations] Danny [Ainge], 'I'll coach again here, I'll come back.' And then, a day later, I told him: I don't know if I can. That's how wishy-washy I was. But when I said that, Danny said, "OK, let me get back to work and get this thing done.'"

That first rebuild worked out pretty good for him. I'm just glad we have a competitor like Brad Stevens now.

Was I the only one that wasn't too disappointed when Doc left?  Yeah he's got his strengths as a coach, but frankly, the coaching was unsatisfactory the last few years.

I'm excited for a fresh start.

When Doc left I had no idea we would get a guy like Brad Stevens. Once we got him it was problem solved.  The players weren't the only ones getting old and tired and mailing it in.

You're not alone. At first when I was hearing the rumors I was kinda worried. Then when it kept dragging I was more annoyed than anything and when he finally accepted the job I didn't care anymore.

He obviously lacks patience. I believe Brad Stevens has a lot of it.

Bad news to LAC. Now, the Clippers know what kind of coach they are getting.

So, what he is saying is that he wasn't man enough to do a tough job, even though he had a contract to do it.

Thanks...that's all I needed to know.

I'm just glad all this Clipper/Celtics rumor mess it over with. After it being on and off again for so long I wanted it to happen. I just thought Doc had more love for tha Celtics than what he's shown since being released. I loved Doc when he was here, still do. But as someone else said, I'm excited for a fresh start. I'm glad we have someone for our rebuild and I'm excited to see what Brad Stevens does with these young Celtics.

Odd. He really wanted to sign a long term large contract a year earlier. You'd think he would have said "Hey guys. Just so you know I reeealllyy don't want to go through a rebuild. If we do that then I will look for another team while under contract and I'll leak it to Stephen A Smith"

Doc just keeps insulting us like it's no big deal whatsoever.  He's really easily become my second most disliked former Celts coach. The only coach that was ever just too good to coach us.

I don't think Docs coaching has been lacking at all, but I wasn't really all that broken up objectively about him leaving. He's done awesome work here, but if PP, KG, and Ray are all gone, now is the time to bring in a new coach. If we get a franchise piece next spring, and if some of our youngsters look like they deserve to be kept around long-term, now is a good time to start a new regime.

And thus the footer. I was apparently ahead of the curve? The S.A.S leak and everything else, when laid out on a timeline just made no sense unless Doc was acting really shady (I'm convinced it began before his last coached game w/Celtics.) The timeline...it's hard to believe otherwise.

Wyc was rightfully p---ed and Danny was rake over coals by a set of negotiators who had no rights to negotiate on Sterlings behalf. It was painful to watch.

Doc was advising about Bledsoe while not talking to his employer (Celtics). He goes on WEEI and implies this was not his idea but went "Danny came to him..." it was what was best for everyone..? Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.? Made no sense.

Now read the top quote from Doc's lips. Where are the folks claiming Danny was trying to nuke the franchise and making Paul and K.G. sad :(  Where you at now? Where you at???  You move along AFTER you understand what went on and not before.

I'm surprised if any of you are surprised.

One more thing..
I actually liked Stephan A Smith.
Watching the "leak" ..him being called crazy, Doc having "no comment" and then with Celtic Nation watching including Wyc, he visits the guy who gave the crazy leak a month earlier and proceeds to not even touch it...the crazy leak dropped by the guy sitting across from him??

If you didn't know right then that Doc was not the guy you mighta thought he was you were not listening.

S.A.S is a joke. I know their is a bandwagon...I just jumped on it. The folks who attacked Simmons for telling Doc to just admit what Doc just said need to get off that bandwagon......Simmons was a p---ed fan while S.A.S is an unpaid rep for certain players and coaches. He's a tools tool.

The guy doesnt want to go through a rebuild bc he doesnt know how to start from the bottom and climb to success. He is 0-3 in these situations.

He can coach teams that is pre loaded and knows how to massage vet player egos.

Everything worked out for everyone. In the end the truth still is, like simmons said, he quit on the team and he will imo never be considered a premier coach like pops or even vogel.
