A guy who has been a starter for most of his career is now in a role behind a workhorse likely to average 35-37 mpg with seemingly little chance of earning more minutes no matter how well he plays and a contract that makes him unlikely to be shipped to a team that needs him more in the near future.
That's probably the best role for him, though.
He started on some stinker teams...Charlotte? Yet he played well and had the respect of some star players, as I recall, as in best non-allstar player.
Now, he's best as a backup swing F, and if he can show himself to be an impact 6th man, he could raise his value enough to make a contender think about guys like Odom, Posey, and Walker (in Heat's title w/Shaq) and that Wallace might solidify their rotation.
The spot is there to be earned, anyway, and he should like his chances.
